There is a legend, in Judaism, that - at any one moment in time,
36 just men keep the world in existence. They are the Lamed vav.
The 36 just men. “Lamed vav” is the Hebrew for the number 36.]
There is a beautiful story, You Never Know: A Legend of the Lamed-vavniks,
which tells the tale of Schmuel the shoemaker, one of the Lamed-vav.
The residents of his village refer to Schumuel as Poor Stupid Schumuel.
