Hello! Just a quick note to let everyone know that the Tridentine Latin Mass held today at the Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More in Tallahassee (which was announced sometime back on this forum) went very, very well. In fact, it was a rousing success!

The parish was about ninety-percent full, which was wonderful, since we didn’t expect that many people! It did cause a problem, though, for we fell short on the number of available missalettes ordered for the mass. Thankfully, everyone took it in stride.

The mass itself was just delightful. It was a Low Mass, so there was silence in many spots. Nevertheless, the congregation was told of that so no one got lost or antsy. The priest celebrating the mass was the greatest, the altar servers were perfect, and the congregation did very well at responding in Latin! Who says it is a dead language? 😉

Overall, an outstanding and satisfying Tridentine Latin Mass! Hopefully, and God willing, there will be more in the near future.

Awesome news that it went so well. And I certainly wish we could have gone. But, being about a hundred miles away, and with gas prices what they are, it didn’t work out. Maybe there will be another opportunity and we can make it then. I do hope that you can post notice of any future such Masses here if you could as I really would love for us to make it to the next one. My wife is actually depressed that we couldn’t go this time. 😦

Cothrige, you are welcome to attend the next one, should there be one! And I think there will be one, perhaps in the Fall when the students get back to FSU. And that one may be a High Mass!

One thing we did have trouble with in the mass was communion distribution. It was much slower than expected due to having only a couple of kneelers to use and no altar rail for many to kneel at. As well, the good people on the sides got confused about when to come forward (we could have used an extra priest or deacon!). We talked about it afterward and will work on that detail for the next one.
