Pretty sure that’s autocorrect
In all charity, yes it is true that you did not say we are born knowing God, in Dr. Marshall’s video part of what he talks about is whether we are born knowing God or not while discussing de Luboc and Nouvelle theolgie. He certainly says we come to know God as your post indicates.also.Can you direct me to the claim that “we are born knowing God”?
Yes, the Church is protected by the Holy Spirit but it is also under constant attack as it always has.encourage deeper faith in the Church Magisterium which we absolutely believe is protected by the Holy Spirit.
The Magisterium is not independent of Tradition and the Word of God. I heard Steve Ray explain Catholic authority is like a three legged stool; Pope, Tradition and Word of God. If you lean on one alone or one or two of the legs are not there, the stool falls over. It is important that the Pope and the bishops teach as the Word of God says and what has been handed down to us from the apostles. They can not stray from that nor can they change the Word of God or Sacred Tradition, which is why it is very important to also study Scripture and Tradition. If not the Magisterium, who do we follow?
Truly? I genuinely hope so!! I use the CC as the backbone of all the catechesis materials I develop. Yes I have been freaking out a bit. I though Marshall felt the CCC, Gaudium et Spes, and other documents were full of Novouelle Theology contaminants. If not I will be a much happier person!!I don’t think anyone is doubting the Catechism
I don’t think he doubts the Catechism as it is a collection of beliefs of the Church. He prefers the older Roman Catechism in fact he did a video on this very issue and why prefers the older one over the new.Crusader13:![]()

Meaning what exactly? Authority doesn’t imply knowledge or accuracy. He can talk all he wants but he isn t the Magsiterium
The statement in the catechism is true but it is not all the catechism states. Man is also born with free will:But what about in statements like this: God infinitely perfect in himself in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life … therefore at every time and in every place God draws close to man
?? I am pretty sure no one said he was.He can talk all he wants but he isn t the Magsiterium
God draws close to man, but doesn’t compel man to draw close to God.But what about in statements like this: God infinitely perfect in himself in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life … therefore at every time and in every place God draws close to man … etc (CCC paragraph 1)
And the nouvelle theology says man is always reaching for God? I think I’m starting to see the difference…God draws close to man , but doesn’t compel man to draw close to God .
Its kind of like how a parent will always seek out their child, whether they’re at home or lost. Even if the child goes lost, the parent still seeks them out. But that doesn’t mean the child is always seeking the parent. Unless they realize its scarier to be lost than it is to be home. .
I don’t think anyone is indicating against church authority… just seeking to know and understand what is being said.My question was simple.
The Church is teaching authoritatively today.
It hasn t stopped at a certain Pope or point.

Yes they believe man is always seeking God, thus doesn’t need to just go the Catholic route. Hence Bishop Barron saying to Ben Shapiro in interview that Christ is “the privileged way”, in direct contradiction to John 14:6. When you can get to heaven by the Sacraments or by meditating on the beach , its no wonder that they believe 'there is a reasonable hope all men are saved", which directly contradicts Jesus (Matthew 7 - says “many” will pass through wide gate to destruction; Matthew 25 - says the saved/sheep will go to heaven and damned/goats will go to hell) and Our Lady (Fatima , showed souls falling into hell like snowflakes). To believe this you have to believe de Lubac, Barron, Von Balthesar are more authoritative than Jesus the Son of God, Our Lady Mother of God,And the nouvelle theology says man is always reaching for God? I think I’m starting to see the difference…
Was that not your initial question? I thought I had answered it.My question was simple.
What makes you go on and on with this issue, Crusader13?
Of course I agree with this. I’ve never once argued against the authority of the Church. The Church is teaching authoritatively today.
