Hello everyone! I enjoy watching cartoons with my little sisters, as well as sometimes watching them by myself in my spare time. There’s a few shows that I’ve been meaning to get into, but I can’t seem to find a my way to stream them legally. A nonbelieving friend suggested I use the website KissCartoon, but I’ve heard that the website uploads the shows illegally and without permission from the creators.

Would it be morally wrong to watch the shows on KissCartoon because it’s breaking the laws, or is it okay?

I’d say it’s wrong. I kinda struggle with that sort of thing morality-wise.

If it’s illegally uploaded, then it shouldn’t be there. If you didn’t know it was illegal, that’s be different but you do so there’s a responsibility factor. Perhaps just scrap those shows and find legal ones?

Ahh okay! Do other people on this forum agree with Footprints?

That’s a sensible view.

The first question is usually, “Is this commercially available where I live?”

If it is available, you support the rights holders and buy it. You’ll get a nice, clean copy; you’ll support the creators; you’ll make it more likely for the creators to continue making it commercially available.

If it’s not available, you can then decide on the morality of watching a digital online copy of a third-generation VHS tape that was recorded from an on-tv airing twenty years ago… 😉

If the website is truly uploading the shows illegally (without the consent of their respective creators who are being denied royalties by this website’s actions), you would be wrong to view them.

If you do view them, you encourage the website owners to continue their illegal activities which, if they are caught, could at best, force the website to be taken down.

Best wait for a valid release.

If you think it might be illegal, the best thing for you to do, would be to find it legally. Generally speaking, the people that own the copyrights to the shows, will make deals with things like Hulu or Netflix or Crackle, etcetera, and even if it’s not one of those things, you might still be able to find it. Also, some older cartoons, check the copyright dates, because there might be nothing illegal about streaming them on YouTube at all.
