But why did He desire to avoid it? Why did He sweat, as though blood was ensuing from His Body?(I would say that Christ did not fear the Cross but that he desired to avoid it.
Could this not have been Revealed in the parable of Lazarus and the rich man?:
Compare with St. John 3:14-21 and 1:1-14–though God Loved the world so much that He Gave His Only Begotten Son as the means to Rescue it… as the prophet warned, the world would not heed God’s Call:31 And he said to him: If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they believe, if one rise again from the dead. (St. Luke 16)
