You know, did you ever think that because liberals generally avoid large families, that they will produce less like-minded people?

So eventually, their ideas, all that they hold dear and special, will die away and be forgotten. They’re basically killing themselves off.

The Australian government back in the 50s and 60s tried to eliminate the aborigines by covert sterilization and stealing their kids. The liberals are basically doing this to themselves.

Next time someone rags on you for having a large family, just say “we’re trying to wipe you out demographically”. Kinda rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it?

But she used the word “generally.” My 90-year-old uncle, a life-long smoker, doesn’t blow away the theory that smoking is generally bad for your health.

Sounds reasonable. I’ve long been distressed, though, by the way the values of my parents generation didn’t generally take hold. Seems like it was because they taught WHAT they thought was right, but didn’t articulate WHY.

I hope that folks with large families (and everybody, for that matter), can teach their kids underlying philosophies–like unselfishness, self-sacrifice, other-centeredness…that the life of love demands an understanding that there are the roots of selfishness in all of us.

That last part is the part that seems to really separate our ideologies, if one thing can be identified.

Oh yes–it has such a Christian ring to it.

People don’t automatically assume the thoughts of their parents. My sister–raised her kids devoutly Catholic–sent them both to Catholic schools–she always voted republican…so did her husband. My youngest nephew is now 25, and is an atheist, and doesn’t believe in government, at all…and my oldest nephew who is 30–is democrat. So…goes to show that children often times do not think like their parents.

But, it’s a funny thought, I guess. lol

I disagree. It seems every young woman I know has been pregnant or is pregnant despite them being air-headed and stuffed full of birth control.

Guess what, two weeks ago me and a young adult acquaintance both entered our LH surge at the same time. She engaged in premarital sex with a condom, sponge, on Yasmine AND her partner withdrew.

Guess who just found out she’s pregnant? Not me.

Using the term very loosely, those liberals who believe in premarital sex and birth control are going to take over the world. Especially as many of them are coming to reject abortion.

Don’t be so feisty. Well, personally, I think a little love and respect and no woman would ever want to be on birth control, engaging in premarital sex and what-have-you. Of course, it’s not so simple in practice, but if people cared a bit more to wait before making decisions, perhaps it could be.

Besides, you know, even I come out liberal in some of those funny quizzes online.

But seriously, many conservatives limit themselves to the 2.5 children thought process. So that DOES blow his theroy out of the water. I know liberals who have large families, and conservatives who have small families, and vice versa. You can’t generalise about either group.

I’ll admit, I’m pretty liberal and I see myself with a lot of kids.

Just because I’m Catholic and pro-life doesn’t make me a political conservative. Who said you had to be a political conservative to be a Christian anyway? Or to want a big family?

And then there are the families where the children go against what their parents taught…For those families it’ll be the grandchildren who are conservative, though there might possibly be less of them!

Honestly, I don’t think you can generalize that. Too many exceptions, and as someone else said, conservatives have small families too! It’s a funny thought though

I think, at least, that it’s safe to say that a family with six or more kids is more likely to be one that is pro-life. Whether they could be labeled “conservative” is another matter.

That, specifically, is very encouraging. Whether a liberal or conservative ideology is better for our citizens, is a question that is secondary to allowing our citizens to be born in the first place.

And, liberal or conservative, I’d say that parents of larger families are more likely to be deliberately teaching kids a philosophy of other-centeredness, which bodes well for the society on the whole.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the original poster was referring to social liberals (pro-abortionists, “same-sex marriage” supporters, and even some pro-environmentalists who believe man must stop populating before him and his kids destroy the earth). Most of these kind of “liberals” think each couple should be limited to the amount of children they have or would be the person who might say, “What, you are having more than 3 children?!” Of course, conservatives do exist who might ask the same question, but I have come across more “liberals” in the social front who are first to complain about overpopulation.

This was my thought also. Usually when I talk about someone being “liberal” I am actually says pro-abortion choice.

I agree wholeheartedly. I am a liberal, but have come to adopt a pro-life stance, which includes opposition to the death penalty. I find it difficult to uncover political candidates who support a pro-life position but also have more liberal ideas about poverty, preemptive war, universal healthcare, etc. I also believe that attempts to pigeon-hole any particular political party will always fail to paint an accurate picture. I hope this doesn’t derail the thread!
