A unique vocation thread

I am called to be married. I know this. In fact, I am rather certain that I know who to as well, just about as certain as I am that God exists. There is one problem though - about six months ago, I wrote her a letter, which she completely misunderstood, did not give me a chance to correct her on her misunderstanding, and then pretty much told me to never try to contact her ever again. Told is actually the wrong word. She warned me not to. I know her very well, so I know that there is some underlying issue or alternative reason at work that she didn’t tell me about. That’s not the point here.

I know that some people receive a calling that they cannot achieve. I heard of one lady when I was in high school who was called to the religious life, but was raped and became pregnant, so she had a child to raise and obviously could not join the order she was called to. It seems that because this lady will not speak to me, I find myself in a similar predicament.

My question is simply, what the heck are you supposed to do if your vocation is out of the question? Do I get a replacement vocation? Since she is not yet married to someone else and hasn’t joined a religious order, should I consider what I believe to be my vocation as still an option and try my best to wait? I am at a loss here. 🤷

p.s. - first post of first topic. I’m new. Sorry if this is the wrong place. (though I imagine it isn’t)

At thsi point, all you can do is wait. If this is truly your calling, as described, there is nothing to be done, so don’t do anything.

Because of our limited life, waiting is hard. But it, too can be part of a “vocation.”

just because you blew it with one lady does not in any way rule out marriage to someone else

just because a woman as a child to raise does not rule out, someday, a religious vocation, look at Elizabeth Seton and other mothers who went on to join or even found religious orders.

yes road blocks may arise but that does not rule out the possibility of your vocation for all time, it merely signals a change in direction, and is also a very clear sign that more discernment and preparation for that vocation is being called for.
