I suppose it could be argued that I am ALREADY doing 90 minutes of prayer daily. One of my books is A TREASURY OF CHAPLETS, by Patricia S. Quintiliani. One entry was “Novena In Honor Of The Nine Choir Of Angels”. Nine Glory Bees (or Glory To) recited nine times during the day. 81 all together, and chaplets have been made up for it. I have one.

Said to be highly effective in times of stress or emergency. Well, I am under a lot of stress whilst working at the Post Office, and have found this Novena helps keep me calm. After all, you are thinking about God, not that jerk of a co-worker. 81 Glorys takes about 15 minutes. I do five sets of nine when walking from parking lot to time clock, and another 3 sets of nine walking from time clock to work area. On an average work day I can easily run up 90 minutes while walking from one trouble call to another.

Yes, very much like an Orthodox Prayer rope

Wait, it gets better. Can we count the time I drive to and from work? 25 Minutes each way. The Fransican Crown first, followed by more Glory Bees. Plus down time waiting in line at stores.

I don’t know if this really counts as prayer but, as noted, it is a way to stay calm and centered on God during those many but very brief idle periods during the day.

It counts as prayer. The Bible exhorts us to pray always. I’m still a long way off.

However, I am recently discovering that praying one Rosary a day (in a non-distractive environment) is really a good idea. I pray on the way to and from work (driving) but that is an environment that requires my attention.

I recently started praying a Rosary each night in the bathtub. With bubble-bath or something equivalent so I don’t dry out my skin. And in the bathroom, I am very seldom disturbed.

As Mary told me (inaudibly two Christmas Eves ago) “You’ll come out cleaner than when you went in”. Too bad only now I’m taking this more seriously and trying to clearn up (some inside as well as outside) each night.

P.S. (personal note to Andruschak) – I’ve never had a cat bother me in the bathtub either. If you do, just a splash will help them to remember not to bother you in the tub.

My cats know what water is. They call it “cat solvent”. They refuse to even enter the bathroom when I am in the tub. They lurk outside in disbelief that any sane animal would immerse themselves in cat solvent.
