Sort of vaguely on the subject, I’ve always been curious about NASA’s almost obsessive drive to find evidence of life in the solar system. What motivates it? I used to put it down to the scientific establishment looking for proof of evolution, but I think now there is more to it than that. A universe totally devoid of life except for earth just does not ring with the contemporary mindset (though it is quite acceptable to a Catholic one). Any thoughts?
