A Votive Mass

I would like to have a Votive Mass said in honor of a particular saint when the Lenten season has ended.

Does anyone know of an appropriate donation amount for that particular intention?

I don’t want to give to little (to be cheap) or give too much (trying to buy favor).

Have you discussed this with a priest? Normally a stipend can be as little as $10.00 - $20.00 or more depending what arrangements need to be done. A fee for the organist and perhaps something for a choir if need be. Lots of things to consider. Your priest can best guide you.

You can ask for Mass intentions, usually there is a standard stipend but not required and should be waived for someone without enough money.

However this is different than asking for a certain votive Mass to be said. Usually the celebrant picks which texts he’ll say, though certainly a priest may be willing to accomodate you, but it’s not the same as an intention.

The exception would be if you wanted a Requiem Mass said e.g. on the anniversary of someone’s death or burial … then the priest would say a Requiem on an allowed day surely.
