A way to evangelize

During the homily at yesterday’s Mass, our Priest said that to be a good evangelist one needs to fall in love with God each and every day.

I found this to be enormously helpful because I’m not so good at talking about the Good News. However, if I followed that instruction (to the best of my ability, of course) it would follow that I would treat others and myself as Jesus instructed. Therefore, my example would be that of a (silent ?) evangelist. Because if I love God, who created all of us, I would treat everyone with the love that Jesus taught. And then, instead of being repulsed upon learning that I am a Christian, people might be intrigued enough by my actions to want to know more about the Gospel.

What thoughts do you guys have about this?

Falling in love with God each day will bring you closer to Him. And, all that is sin will be pushed away while you try to get even closer to Him. The desire to be silent may be coming from your pride - a possible sin. Or, perhaps you are listening to thoughts of the evil one - trying to convince you that sharing your love of God with others will just lead to your pain. Who knows. These assumptions come from my own past experience - so for you - something is probably in play. I don’t buy for one second that we’re built by God to be naturally reluctant to share our love of Him, however. Regardless of all of that, as you focus on falling into a deeper love with God, you might find it very natural to share your love of God with others. I’m willing to bet that if you focus on falling in love with God every day, all that holds you back today will probably just fall away.

Try to be a good christian example then when people see your joy and peace they are gravitated towards it. Then gently bring up religion. In my experience that works better than walking up to someone and saying “let me tell you about Jesus”

I would say that is a very powerfull way to lead others into understanding. Paul once spoke of keeping hold of your joy, pearls to pigs isnt such a paradigm even for those that don`t fall into that bracket.
