What are your thoughts on the other methods of knowing and understanding God?

Well, what I thought we could do is extract, if you will, what the Bible and the Church teach about finding God. Specifically, in my imagination I am addressing the questions or objections some people have posed about the proposed way we find in the Bible. Some people find it absurd to believe in a God that wants us to be humble, sacrifice the self and worship Him others do not really know what the Bible is teaching and yet others without understanding choose other ways which turn out to be fruitless but appear reasonable or realistic such as science and logic.

I just thought that some of us who may find it interesting to do so, can try to present the way shown in the Bible and in Catholic teachings and once pretty much presented discuss why would God, if He exists would want us to find Him in that way. Why would God want us to be humble to find Him? Why would not sinning or repenting from previous sins help us to find God? Why has God chosen the way that He has and not another? What benefit or logic could there be in that way? Etc… I just thought that it could be interesting to discuss it.

I found some good quotes from the Bible that may help. If you know of some quotes from the Bible or Catholic teachings please share them and let us know your thoughts. Let’s see what happens with our little discussion. It is late now in my neck of the woods and I will go to bed now, but tomorrow, God willing, I will post the quotes I mentioned.

I’m going to let this thread go to la,la,la land. I no longer want to get a vibrant discussion going on the topic here. I don’t want this thread to get a lot of views and promote the link. Like empter said on that other thread: remember the Google ratings - let it go.

Off topic, I know - but why English Red Rose when you live in Yorkshire?

because whiterose is kind of west yorkshire and im not west yorkshire. south yorkshire and the main political party for my town is Labour. And although am not a Labour Supporter it kind of idenitifies me without giving my name away which is rare in my town and everyone had nick names.
