Catholics are Christians, and Mary is the Blessed ever-Virgin, the Theotokos.

Nothing is taught about “Catholics and Mary” as a singular topic specifically.

Regarding Catholics: nothing.
Regarding Mary: the mother of the human Jesus.

Catholics are fellow Christians and Mary is the virgin mother of Jesus. Nothing is taught specifically about “Catholics and Mary”

Question for you PJM, what kind of answer were you hoping would pop up with which you’d use as a jumping off point for what I presume would be a lesson of some sort? Because clearly that’s not happened thus far as everyone’s faiths who’ve answered apparently have no opinion at worst on Catholics and Mary as a singular topic.

Were you hoping to come across a Protestant or Protestants who belonged to Churches that feel the RCC has an “unhealthy obsession” with Mary or “worships” Mary?

Good question,

I was HOPING for a discussion of Mary, Catholic Idolatry, and what ever else non-Catholic might like to discuss on the topic.

I’m disappointed a BIT that the string has not gone that way, as the idolatry charge against the RCC is not uncommon, and it is grounded biblically and logically as well.

BUT God’s in charge so I’ll just keep trying to open dialog’ s and share the Catholic Faith on this CATHOLIC Forum. 👍

Yeah I doubt many Protestants that hold Catholics out as Mary Statue Worshiping Idolators are going to be frequenting CA. At least not long enough to post much before they’re banned. 😃

I’ve never heard a sermon or any small group lesson on the Catholic church. Every week, we pray for a different Christian denomination. When the Roman Catholic Church comes up, we pray for our Catholic brothers and sisters in Christ. And I’ve never heard a message regarding Catholic Mariology (is that what it is called?) :confused:

This is it, primarily. Traditional Anglicans (generally) either don’t condemn Catholic mariology or practice something akin to it. Intelligent Lutherans don’t practice it, but see it for what it actually is ( not worship/latria ).I suspect the same if level headed Methodists, etc.

I think these represent a significant percentage of the nC presence here at CAF

Points for the “generally”.
 
Americans tend to refer to ourselves, US residents, by a term that technically covers the whole Western hemisphere. We imagine people in other countries constantly either denouncing or emulating us, preferably both, because their own countries aren’t nearly as interesting.

Likewise, we imagine Protestant boats either:
  • tied to the Magisterium Mothership by an unrecognized tow rope, or
  • charting a theological course at least 33 degrees, but nor more than 90 degrees, on the Port side of Rome, or
  • aiming torpedos at Rome learned during their annual Anti-Catholicism seminars.
It is humbling to realize that non Catholics may have several hours during the month when they aren’t cursing and/or imitating about Catholicism. They may even be a tad annoyed at the **appalling **lack of Catholic curiosity, often exhibited on CAF, regarding their **own **historic Confessions, Articles, whatever they call 'em, their unique devotions, and insights about God.

Fortunately non Catholics keep coming back to CAF anyway. Sometimes non Catholics go off topic by bringing up their own inherent Protestant, or Anglican, or Jewish or Muslim insights, right here on the non Catholic Religions Forum, but there are always a few Catholics who will try to end their tangent, and we restore the focus back on our mirror, where it ought to be.
