A Catholic look at Saul Alinski is showing tonight on EWTN at 10pm Eastern/7pm Pacific time. Mr. Alinski is a particular hero of Hillary Clinton and the show looks like it might be worth checking out. 🍿

A look back on the life, ideals, and works of 1960s community activist, Saul Alinsky, through the lens of a Catholic perspective.
As an example, after organizing FIGHT (an acronym for Freedom, Independence [subsequently Integration], God, Honor, Today) in Rochester, New York,[15] Alinsky once threatened to stage a “fart in” to disrupt the sensibilities of the city’s establishment at a Rochester Philharmonic concert. FIGHT members were to consume large quantities of baked beans after which, according to author Nicholas von Hoffman, “FIGHT’s increasingly gaseous music-loving members would tie themselves to the concert hall where they would sit expelling gaseous vapors with such noisy velocity as to compete with the woodwinds.”[16] Satisfied with his threat yielding action, Alinsky later threatened a “**** in” at Chicago O’Hare Airport. Alinsky planned to arrange for large numbers of well-dressed African Americans to occupy the urinals and toilets at O’Hare for as long as it took to bring the city to the bargaining table. According to Alinsky, once again the threat alone was sufficient to produce results.[16]
In Rules for Radicals, he notes that this tactic fell under two of his rules: Rule #3: Wherever possible, go outside the experience of the enemy; and Rule #4: Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.
Well, the last bit explains all the Norman Lear* et alli* Sitcoms on TV and BBC and ITV / Granada TV Dramas.
In 1969, while a political science major at Wellesley College, Hillary Rodham chose to write her senior thesis on Alinsky’s work, with Alinsky himself contributing his own time to help her.[27][28] Although Rodham defended Alinksy’s intentions in her thesis, she was critical of his methods and dogmatism.[27][29] (Years later when she became First Lady, the thesis was not made publicly available by the school based upon a White House request.[30])

Mr. Alinsky also offered her a job. She declined, saying she would rather achieve his goals from within the system. Some of the voters on Nov. 8 will help her do that and some of the voters will try to stop her; we will see which side will win out.

praying it will be the candidate who is not a student of Mr. Alinsky who wins…

In addition to the information about Saul Alinsky and some individual Catholic clergy who worked with Alinsky, the documentary contains some interesting information about the Frankfurt School for Social Research.

This reflects some of the mindset I encountered working in the missions in Mozambique around the time of its emerging independence. The country was inundated with Marxism that even affected some of the clerical missionaries.

I came home only to see more of the same…met a Jesuit who asked if I had ever been in an ‘Alinsky’. Apparently he did, 1974 or 75, and said he went to Chicago and the experience was psychologically ‘brutal’. I don’t remember why he went, but I also met a sister who worked at the chancery and told me they were ‘chipping away at the hierarchy’…1975.

I think the documentary needs to be shown every week, may be even different days, the dioceses throughout the country encouraging its people to watch this program and see if they can get a grasp of the dynamics of American politics.

Yes, this program should be promoted…it is being done now in our Serra Club although alot of Catholics at the same time are not aware of all…

I was also put into sensitivity training sessions just out of high school; and prior…we went in after our junior year to get on track for college…coming out of depressed inner city areas…The two male tutors who were in their early 20’s were urging me to renounce the Catholic Church and my virginity…this in 1967…a horrific time.

Saw my old girlfriend this summer…the class of '67, and all we could talk about was how awful these times robbed us of good college experiences, how it affected dating…and by '69, two years later, older engaged couples on campus were breaking up, and people starting to support abortion.

We are to pray for conversions…Our 54 day novena ended yesterday with some rivoting news on TV about a particular presidential candidate…October 7…and I see it as a warning…we must pray for the right leadership…and with prayers united with Mary to Our Lord, all things are possible with God.

Um, has Michael Moore publicly praised Saul Alinsky? I can’t say I didn’t feel uncomfortable when I saw a picture of Mr. Moore with the late Hugo Chavez.

Yes, probably many others as well who are part of the film industry.

I remember John Paul II giving a talk to those in the music industry and the great responsiblity they have to promote the good in society, and that likewise they are most aware of the great power of communication through culture is most powerful.

This use of culture, not fact driven documentary with witnesses, is how ‘The Deputy’ was able to invert the character of Pope Pius XII into the opposite person he was.

Pave the Way Organization, Jewish, was given permission to go into the Vatican Archives to find out more about Pius. After spending much time there, they came out stating that there was no one like Pope Pius XII who helped the Jews than any other person in the world.

Likewise…they have photo copies of the voting records in Germany that show 75% of the people there voted Hitler and the Nazis into power, but the Catholic sectors of Germany for the most part did not.

Likewise your vote goes down in history as well.
