This weekend EWTN TV aired a piece called "A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing."

It is mostly about Saul Alinski and certain US Catholic Church leaders.

I trust EWTN, but I am shocked at the history presented in this piece.

Did you see this? Do any readers have their own knowledge of what was really going on?
 
I watched the last part of it. Missed the first part, but it was enlightening. Of course, t/he left has been trying these sort of Alinsky tactics within the Church for some time now.

I watched this and thought it was eye opening. Was quite balanced.

The most shocking thing for me was not so much Alinski’s teachings , but the fact that many Priests were recruited by communists/socialists to infiltrate the Church. I wonder how many more by different organizations with vested interests?

I am trying to obtain the views and knowledge from others free from any misleading personal interpretation of the EWTN piece I might provide, that could direct or limit their comments.

That said, my Catholic High School some 55 years ago exposed me to the battle between communism and capitalism, between a Godless society and the tenets of our Catholic Faith. Since then I served 24 years in the US Air Force and read a number of books and continue to hold firmly to our Catholic Faith. I wrote my college English 1 A term paper on how Hitler came to power.

Although I became aware of Saul Alinski about 20 years ago, I have not read much about him. Thus, **“A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing” **provided me a ton of information that had escaped me. I am looking for independent confirmation or clarification.

55 years ago we studied “The Operational Code of the Politboro”. Brother Peter had me personally read “The Ugly American.” More recently I read “The Destructive Generation” after I attended a Catholic meeting where one of the authors discussed his personal experiences. I have read other books from noted authors. I try to reject misleading summaries of history.

I lived thru most of it and I can see the harm done by it. ALL Catholics as well as ALL Christians should see it. God Bless, Memaw
 
I haven’t seen the film yet, but it has been shown in at least one parish where I live. My friend saw it there and told me about it. I hope to catch a streaming broadcast on EWTN. Meanwhile I looked up Alinsky on Wikipedia. Caught the part about Hillary Clinton writing her senior honors thesis about him - meeting with him in person during the process.

A book titled Rules for Radicals by Mr. Alinsky was published in 1971. There is no reason to believe Mr. Alinsky was acting alone, and Communists/Subversives/Radicals were acting out in full force by 1971. The Communists, in particular, have been denying their influence in the United States since World War II. It took them some time to gradually wear down the population and build up their propaganda operations, plus doing active ‘evangelizing’ among the masses.

The former USSR, and Godless Communism, had become the new enemy even before the last shots of World War II had been fired.

I did watch al, of it and most of it I knew was true because I knew about Bela Dodds piests, watched bishop Sheen . Also on You Tube there’s not only the whole movie on but the debate between WF on Firing Line between the two. Can’t hel gr ember a homily in the 70s by an Irish Catholic priest who said You can’t talk about the brotherhood of man without the Fztherhood of God. It’s too bad that the Catholic priests he deceived didn’t see that. even Fathdr Mitch was deceived.

Watched it earlier tonight. Someone got us the DVD.

I lot of that stuff I already knew…

I thought the video did a great job of connecting the proverbial dots though.

The associations in the IAF with other people was particularly interesting.

So yes I think the video was accurate, informative (even though I knew some of the things, many other things the video taught were new to me), and presented well.

The fact that society destabilizers are always trying to misuse the Church to further their agenda is not surprising.

We’ve seen that recently how one government advisor, was discussing phony “Catholic” organizations that they helped create in order to undermine the Catholic Church.

Thanks for your comments, Cathoholic.

We are called to love. Even to love our enemies. So, often we strive to be tolerant to the point of being naive. Often we assume the other’s goals match our goal and their methods are as good as our methods.

Prudence should tell us to not assume too much; to study up on methods that usually lead to bad ends; to examine more closely whether the potential partner is worthy or not of our cooperation. We must always allow that some sheep are indeed wolves in sheep’s clothing.
