BillP, thank you. If you are correct, then I am misunderstanding sin by omission.
newbetx, I am not “searching for sins” nor am I looking to chastise anyone. I do worry that the AAA answer I linked to could promote a careless attitude toward the Eucharist. The fact is, the Catholic family in this case SHOULD have instructed the non-Catholic child before Mass. But they forgot, or didn’t think to, or assumed the child would know… so I see that it’s not sinful really. Just seems like something that wouldn’t have been that hard to take care of…
