AARP offers so many “good deals” as far as second medical insurance, life insurance, etc… for the retired low income. Are they not supporting abortion? also, should a well informed catholic belong to it in order to save money on expensive drugs? Thank you and God bless you. Anne

AARP has been in the forefront of promoting the LIVING WILL and assorted “messages” that condone a “right to die,” which as we know is a code phrase for euthanasia.
What to do? Well, writing them consistently and asking them to come out in support of accurate definitions regarding end of life care would be far superior to stopping a relationship with them, in my opinion. They need pressure from us seniors! Let’s give it to them.

I posted a similar question a few months back, and I received positive answers from the forum. So I joined (for one year; not sure yet, if I’m going to renew).
However… on receiving their magazine… I must say that some of the advertisements and content have made me uncomfortable. There was one for some kind of birth control. And another article showcasing Ron Howard (director of two very anti-Catholic films… “The DaVinci Code” and “Angels and Demons”).
Having said that… they do offer discounts to members on things such as eye exams and glasses. That was important to me… and I plan on taking advantage of it, as I currently have no medical insurance.

If a Catholic doesn’t join anything like AARP, AAA or the United Way, or anything else like that, wouldn’t we be closing ourselves off from the greater world? Shouldn’t we try to change some of these groups rather than running from them?

Anyone who wants to preserve the capitalist system in America, and have any free choice at all regarding their health care, should not join AARP.
Want discounts? Join AAA, they have pretty much all the same ones.
