Did anyone else catch Abbot Nicholas on Catholic Answers radio this afternoon?

I got into my car to drive home from Sacramento and on comes that lovely familiar voice! 🙂 What a nice surprise. Unfortunately I missed the first 15 minutes but heard the remaining 45 on the drive home.

Hopefully they will have it up as a podcast soon.

Please take a minute to write them and thank them for having Abbot Nicholas on and request that they have a monthly Q&A with Abbot Nicholas or another Eastern Catholic cleric. Or complain about how they never cover Eastern Catholics if that seems like a more useful communication.

Why did they move from Ruthenian to Romanian?

Not trying to promote gossip here, please only answer if this is public knowledge.

One of the many reasons they changed jurisdiction was for ease. Its far easier to get around when you are working in multiple parishes throughout the United States when you only have one bishop above you. Additionally, because the Romanian Church incorporates elements of both the Greeks and Slavs into their praxis, Holy Resurrection is able to easily relate to both the Melkites, Ruthenians etc.

It also fosters a cooperative spirit within the monastery itself. As you know Abbot Nicholas’ family is Greek in origination but they have a novice who is Russian. Romanian is a comfortable and ancient compromise.

Also I find Romanian alot easier to read than Slavonic.
