Let’s just say there advertising is so graphic, I attribute my fall back into sins against purity to them…yeah there that bad.

Personally, I do avoid doing business whenever possible with a company when I learn they engage in or support immoral activity. Only if I have no alternative will I do business with them.

I would not shop at A&F. Nor do I do business with companies that support Planned Parenthood.

For example, for many years, my employer (annual revenues of $1.2 billion) had for many years sponsored a fund-raising for a charity. Recently this charity started giving money to Planned Parenthood. I quietly mentioned this to the Chairman of the board. She was not aware of this change. After conferring with the charity, our company ended up terminating our sponsorship of the current and future events. (I am fortunate enough to work for a company, founded by Catholics, that actually uses Catholic Moral teachings to shape their business ethics and employment policies.)

I think it is entirely reasonable to try to use our wallet when it comes to areas of authentic morality and issue is serious.

Whether we are actually required to do I think depends on the seriousness and nature of the business.

I remember reading an article in our local Catholic paper about
them a few years ago. From what I recall it mentioned they
featured teenagers in suggestive poses and there was something
about a catalog they put out I think it was a Christmas one
where they said some very vile disgusting things about Jesus.

it would be against the dress code for any CCD or youth activities in this parish, .
Your parish would not allow any polo shirts with the little Moose on them? Seriously?

What if a kid brought a friend along and that’s the shirt her wore? Would he be asked to change or leave?

Based on what some kids at my parish wear (mostly the girls… bare shoulders, midriffs exposed etc.) I am SHOCKED that anyone would have a problem with a polo shirt regardless of where it’s from?!

Most know how scandalously evil the advertisements for the clothing chain Abercrombie & Fitch have been/can be, however, would it be considered at all sinful to wear any of their clothing? Assume that it’s already owned and not immodest in and of itself; for instance, simply a polo shirt that has the moose logo and doesn’t even even say A&F on the outside.
I can’t speak for the Church’s stand on this. I would think that wearing the logo of someone promoting anything sinful is - in a way like advertising their wares and condoning it.

I can’t tell you how many stores / companies I have personally boycotted through the years, making my choices in purchasing so limited, it’s become very difficult for me. I may not be making a dent in their financials but I can’t in good conscience give my money to them.

Further, wearing anyone’s logos - is also giving them free advertisement. Publicity costs big bucks! And they’re certainly not paying YOU to wear it. Which is why I also steer away from logo wearing. We put too much emphasis on wearing a logo, thinking it gives us prestige…it’s a con game, and we’re the ones being conned.

There is no innate “evil” here. Wearing a piece of clothing or this or that does not always translate to anything else. People can wear or listen to anything and not be effected. You have to look at the person who is wearing the clothing. IMO it is not sinful to wear A&F clothing when looking at it at face value.

I think it is important NOT to support vendors who use “edgy” marketing ploys that one finds offensive. For instance, I won’t use Calvin Klein products because of a past advertising campaign that came so close to child pornography that even the secular mainstream media raised the issue. At some point, one must simply take a stand.

Why would you want to spend money on a business that toys with young people’s sexuality in this way? And wouldn 't you rather have your own name advertized on your shirt or pants rather than some company’s logo? Think about it.

Forgive the bump

Another reason not to by A&F clothes…yesterday, I saw a man with an Abercrombie T-shirt that said "Make Love, not Babies. "😦 😦

Take Action
Code:
** Will you take a stand with Marcia? **

Ask Abercrombie & Fitch to stop selling Maxim magazine and displaying pornographic posters in their A&F and Hollister stores nationwide. [Click here](http://www.onemillionmoms.com/IssueDetail.asp?id=302) for more information.

I don’t even think that anyone who shops at Abercrombie and Fitch pays for the clothes to actively support pornographic advertisements. People just get the clothes for the look or to cover themselves and it really just depends on your state of mind. Besides, if you boycott companies because they have suggestive advertisements and used outsourced labor (essentially taking advantage of the poor) and such, you’re pretty much left with very few and either relatively expensive or extremely expensive clothes.

Actually, the prices should come down then.

😦

I don’t buy A&F clothing either. I think it’s weird that a clothing company would advertise using nudity.
