Abideth alone

“And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.” John 12:23,24

In what sense would Jesus have been “alone” had He not died and rose again? He had Mary, and the disciples, and the other 2 persons of the Trinity, God the Father and God the Spirit.

In what sense would Jesus have been “alone” had He not died and rose again? He had Mary, and the disciples, and the other 2 persons of the Trinity, God the Father and God the Spirit.

If Jesus hadn’t died, He would have been alone, for we couldn’t die in Him in Baptism. In Baptism, we die to this world and are born into the next. Jesus is preparing many rooms for us in the next. But without His death, these rooms would have forever remained empty.

Of course, Jesus is God and He always could have done whatever He wanted, but those are the guidelines Jesus set up for us.
