If the Abomination of Desolation occurred in 70 ad as put forth by many, between who and when was the covenant confirmed? It had to have been confirmed. But if John’s vision in Revelations occurred after 70 ad, then we should be awaiting it still.

Matt 24:15"So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’** spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand—

This is what Jesus is referencing Dan 9:27

Dan 9:27And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

All records indicate that the temple was burned by fire before being destroyed.

In 2 Thessalonians 2 it further states that the anti-christ would do the following:
3Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Did this happen or is this suppose to be an endtime item?**

Daniel is a prophetic book. The Apocolypse, or Revelation supposedly written by John (I think it was actually) is also a prophetic book.

Its more complicated than that, but I hope you understand that this should go to sacred scripture and not be here, to get the real answers you need.

This happened, ishappening , and is yet to be complete.
It happned when Antiochas Epiphanese established helenistic culture and placed a statue of Zues in the Temple. Maccabees. Not sure which 1 or 2

It’s happening as the v oice of anti-christ replacesthe voice of God in the conscience. Conscience is the sanctuary where God speaks to man.

It is complete in the final suffering of the Church.

Shawn, everything is clear. Just open your eyes.

1 - Who is the Anti-Christ? The Bible says it is the one who denies the deity of Christ, rejects the Father(God) and the Son(Jesus) - Islam
2 - What is the original name in Isaiah 14 that referred to Satan? - Heylel Ben Shachar. Heylel’s rootword is HALAL (the commercial trademark of muslims)
3 - The abomination is said to sit at the location of the temple in Jerusalem. What sits there now? - Dome of the Rock (islam’s monument)
4 - Who is allah? - Historians proven that it is the pagan moon idol of babylon - Baal, the arch enemy of God that Elijah fought against at Mt Carmel.
5 - Who is attacking the Jews? beheading people? telling people that God never came down to sacrifice Himself on the cross? - Muslims.

  • God had already spoken to us, unfortunately, we refuse to listen to Him. What is the point of knowing the end times when we cannot even recognise the Devil?

Mac 1 and 2 (Antiochas Epiphanese) took place 200 years before the Abomination of Desolation in 70 ad. Dan 9:27, as referenced in Matt 24 states he would confirm a covenant for one week (7 years). Midway through he would cause the sacrifices to be cut off. So no earlier than 63 ad could the covenant had been confirmed unless Daniel’s 70th week hasn’t happened yet.

Friends, I want to approach this subject from a fresh direction. I believe the 'abomination of desolation" began earlier than 70 AD. It involves the warning Moses gave to the Israelites that “Seven times” of chastisement would pass over them, meaning gentiles conquered them.
**“I will chastise you seven times…” **(Leviticus 26:28) Gentiles would conquer the Jews.
“Let seven times pass over him.” Daniel 4:23 refers to the same prophecy, while interpreting the dream of Nebuchadnezzar, who ruled from 605 to 562 BCE.

A “time” is a biblical year of 360 days, like degrees. 7 X 360 = 2,520 years.
You can figure it in lunar or solar but they begin with the capitivities of Isael and Judah.

In 676 BC there was the first Captivity in Babylon 676 + 2520 solar years = 1844 C.E. (See Dan. 4:23 & 32)
In 602 BC Nebuchadnezzar defeated Pharaoh Necho at Carchemish for control of Israel & Judah etc. 602 B.C.E. + 2520 lunar years = 1844 C.E. (See Jeremiah 46:1)

Now, when Jesus was asked about the time of His return in Matthew 24:15, He refers His listeners to a prophecy in Daniel, which reads:
**How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?" Then he answered “Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed”; **Daniel 8:13-14 So we are talking about 2300 years.

These prophecies begin with the reconstruction of the Temple in 456 BC.
**456 BC + 2300 = 1844 CE **
The Advent of the Baha’i Calendar begins on 21 March, 1844, the 1rst day of Nisan, exactly 2300 years after Artaxerxes commanded the temple be rebuilt in Ezra 7.

Another prophecy alluded to by Lord Jesus is the one about “70 weeks” in Daniel 9:24.
70 X 7 = 490
**457 BC + 490 = 33 CE **
the Date of the Crucifixion

Matthew 18:21 **Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? --till seven times? **18:22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven…

So, this was not just how we should forgive, but a reminder of the ancient prophecy of the soon-to-be-sacrificed Lamb of God. We know He was the real Temple. And so He will be again in the New Advent. Baha’is believe the same Spirit has re-appeared, as John the Baptist was Elijah, when the Báb appeared in 1844, a Herald and Fore-runner to Bahá’u’lláh (The Glory of God). Both of Their Shrines are in Galilee today, and the Time of the gentiles is over. The Jews have returned for a specific purpose, and the Promised One must be in the world…
Praise be to God, the Lord of all the worlds!

In the Book of Daniel, from the rebuilding of Jerusalem to the martyrdom of Christ, seventy weeks are appointed; for by the martyrdom of Christ the sacrifice is accomplished and the altar destroyed. [Daniel 9:24]
This is a prophecy of the manifestation of Christ. These seventy weeks begin with the restoration and the rebuilding of Jerusalem, concerning which four edicts were issued by three kings. The first was issued by Cyrus in the year 536 B.C.; this is recorded in the first chapter of the Book of Ezra. The second edict, with reference to the rebuilding of Jerusalem, is that of Darius of Persia in the year 519 B.C.; this is recorded in the sixth chapter of Ezra. The third is that of Artaxerxes in the seventh year of his reign – that is, in 457 B.C.; this is recorded in the seventh chapter of Ezra. The fourth is that of Artaxerxes in the year 444 B.C.; this is recorded in the second chapter of Nehemiah.
But Daniel refers especially to the third edict which was issued in the year 457 B.C. Seventy weeks make four hundred and ninety days. Each day, according to the text of the Holy Book, is a year. For in the Bible it is said: ‘The day of the Lord is one year’ [Num. 14:34]
Therefore, four hundred and ninety days are four hundred and ninety years. The third edict of Artaxerxes was issued four hundred and fifty-seven years before the birth of Christ, and Christ when He was martyred and ascended was thirty-three years of age. When you add thirty-three to four hundred and fifty-seven, the result is four hundred and ninety, which is the time announced by Daniel for the manifestation of Christ.

But in the twenty-fifth verse of the ninth chapter of the Book of Daniel this is expressed in another manner, as seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; and apparently this differs from the first saying. Many have remained perplexed at these differences, trying to reconcile these two statements. How can seventy weeks be right in one place, and sixty-two weeks and seven weeks in another? These two sayings do not accord.

But Daniel mentions two dates. One of these dates begins with the command of Artaxerxes to Ezra to rebuild Jerusalem: this is the seventy weeks which came to an end with the ascension of Christ, when by His martyrdom the sacrifice and oblation ceased.

The second period, which is found in the twenty-sixth verse, means that after the termination of the rebuilding of Jerusalem until the ascension of Christ, there will be sixty-two weeks: the seven weeks are the duration of the rebuilding of Jerusalem, which took forty-nine years. When you add these seven weeks to the sixty-two weeks, it makes sixty-nine weeks, and in the last week (69-70) the ascension of Christ took place. These seventy weeks are thus completed, and there is no contradiction. (‘Abdu’l-Bahá, Some Answered Questions, p. 40-1)
