You are correct…Cytotec is the trade name of a synthetic prostaglandin analogue, misoprostol. It is marketed in the USA as a specific drug for the prevention and treatment of NSAID induced stomach ulcers. This was the original use for cytotec. It is currrently however a prescription drug. But sadly I must agree that it will probably be OTC.

Here in Portugal abortion is only legal for rape, danger to the mother’s life and great deformity of the fetus.

I think our law is right. In the deformity cases, I think only the babies who would not live should be killed. And abortion is murder, but there is also self-defense. If a mad man is trying to kill you, you can kill him, eventhough he is innocent, because he doesn’t know what he is doing. If a baby inside you is about to kill you it’s the same. As for rape, I do agree that the child should live, but I think that it is only natural that some women will not be able to survive if they give birth to the child, that they see the child as a sort of an acomplice of their torturer. I think the child should live, but I could never force a raped woman to give birth if she feels that would be being raped all over again. And I think women who are raped and have the baby and the husbands that suport them are absolutely right and are wonderful people and that the child is their own, but I think that when a raped woman aborts, the abortion is the rapist’s responsability. A rapist can not be a father, but he is the one responsable for the abortion.

As a side story, I was in a speech class a couple semesters ago, and a girl gave a speech on why abortion should be illegal. Except, she said, in 3 situations. The first of which was that there was something wrong with the baby, the second was if the baby was conceived by rape, and the third if the mother’s life was in danger.
I questioned her on the first, and then moved on to her second point, asking, “So, does abortion unrape the mother?”
Almost the whole class started yelling at me. Apparently it was an unfair question…:ehh:

IT IS an unfair question! Do you ask a person who wants to see a killer in jail if that will make the murdered person live again?!

You’ve hit the nail on the head there. If it’s a normal child, it souldn’t be aborted, no matter what the circumstances of it conception (insest is likely to inolve some major deformity)
