Washington, DC – Abortion advocates are turning on each other in the wake of the House vote on the Stupak amendment that saw massive abortion funding stripped from the health care bill. Abortion advocates are upset with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her top lieutenants while grassroots abortion activists are companying about the leadership at Planned Parenthood and NARAL.

Good. Let them tear themselves to shreds. When stupak passed, I said to my mom, watching with me, Planned parenthood is tearing their hear out right now, and screaming like demons. Looks like I was right:D

I don’t care if they fight each other, as long as they don’t get federal funding. Fighting each other is only going to make them weaker politically anyway.

The seam where the Democratic party sewed together those who really were “personally opposed, but unwilling to restrict others” and the genuinely pro-abortion people who want fewer humans on the earth is ripping apart.

The Stupak amendment is entirely non-threatening to someone genuinely “pro-choice.” By that definition, I mean someone who is not opposed to the legality of abortion and wants the government to have no part in coercing people one way or the other on the issue.

THIS kind of “pro-choice” politician is uncomfortable forcing Americans to fund abortions either through tax dollars or required insurance premiums. That is fundamentally NOT “pro-choice”, it is “pro-abortion.” NARAL, NOW and Planned Parenthood have OODLES of money and would be entirely able to pay for an abortion for every uninsured woman who wants one. There is no reason to force every American to pay for abortions, regardless of how you see the issue morally.

As pro-lifers, we cannot be satisfied that this is any sort of “victory.” All we’ve done is temporarily staved off a massive defeat (being forced to pay for the abortions of others). But it is good to see that the “pro-choice” block of politicians is not as monolithic or unified as they sometimes can seem.

Glad to read that orgainzation is falling apart with in the pro-death circle, that should help. It isn’t over by any means, but if Health Care can pass Sans Abortion that would be a terrific victory for life. In fact, so much so I think it might be a game changer. We need to stay vigilant, and keep the Stupak in tact.

Once health care is ostensibly or directly run by the government, it will only be a matter of time before abortion is covered. After all, it is “health care”. This is why amendments like this one are naive and completely underestimate the incremental growth of federal jurisdiction in large government programs. The devil will gladly throw you a bone today if he retains the whole skeleton in the end.

Planned Parenthood is run by zealots, and they want it their way immediately. Once this bill passes, they’ll get what they want eventually.
