Abortion and Absolution.

I was told that if a woman wants to recieve absolution for having an abortion she would have to go either to an Abbot or Bishop (or higher up). Are there some serious sins a priest can not absolve?

Dear Find,

This is no longer true. There was a time when abortion was considered a “reserved sin” and the person was referred to a bishop or some priest deputed to absolve such sins. Today all priests can absolve the sin of abortion.
