So abortion isn’t worse? They are both grave sins.
to compare human behavior to animals is degrading to mankind. we’re humans, we’re better. thats why we are able to make houses and cars and computers, and they can’t. why should we use their actions to justify ours? we have a mind, they don’t.Pregnancy is hard on the body, the mind (post partum depression), and quality of life. Being forced to remain pregnant would certainly be viewed as a punishment by many.
Untrue, if this were so we’d only want sex during ovulation (the case with many animals). Look up the sexual habits of the bonobo chimp, one of our closest relatives, for a non-human example for how sex can have other functions. This particular species has sex as a greeting, as a way to resolve conflict etc. (This includes sex between same gender).
For human beings, sex is fun, it relieves tension, it helps to bond a couple and so on. It definitely has other functions beyond making babies, or else we’d only have it the few times we wanted kids.
And yet again and again on this forum you see sad stories of spouses who are not getting the sex they want. Men supposedly think of sex every few minutes, people are preoccupied with attracting sexual partners.
This is sort of like asking “which would you rather have to eat in your cookies - rancid meat or dog manure.”So abortion isn’t worse?![]()
So you’re saying that abortion isn’t worse than contraception? Yes or no?This is sort of like asking “which would you rather have to eat in your cookies - rancid meat or dog manure.”
I am saying that they are both grave sins.So you’re saying that abortion isn’t worse than contraception? Yes or no?
So you’re saying they’re equal.I am saying that they are both grave sins.
Both - I mean either , if done with knowledge and intent, will land one in hell for all eternity.
I did not say they are equal, you are twisting my words. So you’re saying they’re equal.
Why you couldn’t say that, I’m not sure.
So a woman is better off risking having an abortion than using contraception in fact. So really you’d like more abortions?![]()
Not twisting your words at all.I did not say they are equal, you are twisting my words.
I said they are both grave sin.
The degrees of mortal sin is a complex teaching, more complex than I can explain. Not twisting your words at all.
I am trying to get a direct answer to a direct question.
I’ll say it again - is abortion a greater evil/sin than contraception?
OK, that’s a big fat “don’t know” then! The degrees of mortal sin is a complex teaching, more complex than I can explain.
I would suggest you do some serious study.
So what is the practical meaning of the difference?OK, that’s a big fat “don’t know” then!
I don’t need to do any studying, it’s fairly obvious to me that abortion is a greater evil than contraception. Seems quite straightforward to me.
No, it is a big fat - they are both mortal sin.OK, that’s a big fat “don’t know” then!

And you just made a statement in support of it not being necessary for contraception to be needed in the first place. Thanks…You’d have to eliminate NFP as well to achieve that effect.
Right, which just demonstrates what most people know, that the result of an action does not necessarily correlate with the moral culpability of that action. So what is the practical meaning of the difference?
First degree murder is more serious offense than manslaughter.
However, in both cases the victim is dead
Manslaughter is not a freak accident. It is the result of purposeful, harmful action against the victim.Right, which just demonstrates what most people know, that the result of an action does not necessarily correlate with the moral culpability of that action.
Someone could die by a freak accident. No moral culpability but still death as a result.
You’ve misunderstood my point. Although you’re wrong about manslaughter in any case.Manslaughter is not a freak accident. It is the result of purposeful, harmful action against the victim.
Any mortal sin causes the spiritual death of the actor, no matter if one mortal sin is greater than another.
Most abortions are the result of promiscuity, if you eliminate contraception, you are forced to work within the confines of nfp, by doing so, you are going to be much more selective as to who you have sex with.without contraception there would be less abortions?
I can’t figure out how on earth you reckon that?
what’s a social disease btw?
Obviously. Would you mind helping me understanding it?You’ve misunderstood my point.
How so?Although you’re wrong about manslaughter in any case.
Wonderful piece of wishful thinking. Not backed up by real life tho:thumbsup:Most abortions are the result of promiscuity, if you eliminate contraception, you are forced to work within the confines of nfp, by doing so, you are going to be much more selective as to who you have sex with.
Social/sexully transmitted disease lessens due to the more selective process of who your sexual partners are.
