assuming nuns aren’t having abortions, no.
Isn’t it the lack of being pregnant and carrying the baby to term that causes the increase in breast cancer? Abortion prevents giving birth and being a celibate nun does the same.

Some of the earliest studies regarding the causes of breast cancer used nuns as one of the study groups and that is where it was originally found that carrying a baby to term was beneficial to breast health.

If we wanted to do all we can to prevent breast cancer in as many women as possible , it would be better to outlaw abortions and also allow nuns to give birth.Abortion definitely hurts the health of women on a number of levels and conversely giving birth also helps women on a number of levels.

Science and religion sometimes makes for strange bedfellows. Sometimes they like who they wake up next to, and sometimes they don’t.

Peace

Of course. Us women are so unreliable we need to be controlled by the state in order for any research on us to be viable. You’re speaking to a feminist here, and you’re straying into territory you really really don’t want to. How dare you suggest that any tests done now on women who had abortions/women who didn’t would be unreliable because women may lie. It is possible yes, but any scientific tests have flaws. Also - in the UK at least, there will be a record of any abortion if it was done legally. Therefore, us little women can’t lie. Also, outlawing abortion does not mean that they won’t be carried out. Just accept that your idea was a little bit ridiculous so we can move on please.

Ahem. If you read back in the forum, I provide peer-reviewed evidence which disproves any proven link between abortion and breast cancer.

If you read back some more, you will find that a previous member of this forum did some research about the study which found an 193% increase, and found that this “study” was not mentioned on any other website, and was not peer-reviewed and no other news agency has reported this scientist’s findings. You say its reliable? Hmmm.

Also, are you implying that women in the USA are cancelled about the risks of breast cancer because of abortion? Are you aware of the American Medical Association’s official stance on this issue? No? Good thing I posted this on the thread earlier then.
Well, I’m going to sum this one up to you: you think that abortion is a must have choice for so called feminists like yourself, and you’ll claim in the face of any evidence or any moral truth that you and your choices are the highest priority for society to establish, even if that means that women are harmed, which they are and which they have been in many many ways by this atrocity called legalized abortion. Do you, or did you, ever consider that probably more than half of the aborted babies were girls? Are’nt you listening to any of the stories that women who have had abortions are coming forth with more and more now over the years about the terror that they have been through, and that they’re still suffering with? Yeah, now that’s territory that i definetly would’nt want to have to go to.

You could not be more wrong. I’m going to break this down nice and simple for you.
  1. Since when did feminist=pro-abortion?
  2. You are referring to evidence that it causes cancer? It doesn’t, look at the peer-reviewed studies I posted.
  3. I’m actually pro-life. What made you think I wasn’t? What did I say exactly? Quote me.
  4. No I never ever realised that some of the aborted babies were female. Thanks for telling me! Gosh I always thought they were all boys and were part of some feminist plot to flood the world with only women and then rule over the men as slaves. Or something. Don’t patronise me please or suggest that feminists only care about female children.
  5. Yeah some women have emotional scars. What’s that got to do with what I said earlier?
  6. You went into that territory blind-folded and speaking Spanish and wearing fancy dress when everyone else was wearing suits and speaking English.

Ahem. You provided NO peer reviewed articles, only a wikipedia article and a link to the NCI.

And we have all agreed that there are outlying, ridiculous, papers scattered around… Planned parenthood conducted a study and found that abortion DECREASES (by around 20%) the risk of breast cancer.

If you have actual papers, please share them. I have yet to see any whose maths (I can speak british when necessary) and methods are superior to those showing an increased BC risk associated with abortion. Many are equivalent, but none superior.

Final Answer:
  1. Along time ago in the 70’s when self proclaimed Feminists used what they termed:
“a woman’s right to choose” as a centepiece for their political agenda. There’s no arguing about this, it’s history.
  2. The study warns that the “risk for breast cancer is increased” you don’t seem to even understand the question, and obviously you are wrong on this very important matter which impacts women’s health. This is why you are wrong, because you’re stating matter of factly that abortion does not possibly cause breast cancer, (and yes, your peer group is wrong in that regard right along with you if that’s what they’re saying).
  3. I honestly don’t know what you are deep down and if (IF) I made a wrong judgement I apologize, but in the course of this thread you have dismissed not only breast cancer but depression as being real concerns for post abortion women, those are only two of the dangers among entire host of realities of having had an abortion…I don’t intend to be personal with you at all; but I have known someone who has been through this.
4&5 I’m not going to go into.
  4. I’m not much on parties these days at all, thank you.

  1. So all feminists believe the exact same thing? The definition of a feminist is someone who believes that women should have equal rights. Some feminists also campaign for pro-choice. Not all. If you believe otherwise then I suggest you add a dictionary to your reading list.
  2. I provided evidence that there is no proof of a link between abortion and breast cancer. The official position of the American Medical Association and the World Health Organisation is that there is no conclusive evidence that there is a link. Your opinion therefore is different from a medical one, therefore is not based on practice and is instead believed on theological propaganda, which should never use science.
  3. When have I dismissed depression? I haven’t. I have only dismissed breast cancer when I considored medical evidence. Therefore it is not just an opinion, but one based in fact.
  4. It was a metaphor.
