Yea your point of view is totally agreeable. And i agree that is why I’m a vegiterian. Actually no I’m not (I’m just wanting your response implying that you should be a vegiterian, actually i just realized animals do scream when you kill them, WOW you definately better be a vegiterian) I got to say I’m very survival of the fittest, but that in mind i would find it rather creepy to eat something that has the capacity for higher thinking. Although i don’t think eating such another bieng is wrong. I mean animals are not as intelligent or as evolved as us. So if there is a species more evolved than us i would be moraly okay with them eating us. Although i would find the concept of eating them icky… But if i had to i would…

Yea this is an interesting thought. If you don’t believe in a soul then killing an embryo without consciousness ot feeling is fine. Because then it’s like killing an animal which we do all the time. Even if it then has a soul so do animals so it’s still iffy, i mean what are angels beside heavens animals. Oh man my thoughts are going everywhere…
I am not a vegetarian, mostly because I believe that killing a human for ones own pleasures and killing an animal for food are two different topics. When someone kills an animal for the fun of it than yes I agree that is disgusting and very immoral, but that is a totally different subject.

Your idea that angels are animals untrue. They are intelligent spirits who have no body and so your analogy is a little off.

Ahhh i love this topic, my friend told me about it from some jewish text, i will discuss it more with him. Well lets consider somethings. Were in the human realm, beings in alternate dimensions exist in their own realm. errrr okay my whole logic fell through when i realised that humans are mammals, mammals are animals. If the ancients and ori (fictional example) are energy based entities and would be classified as not an animal not a bug, they would need there own completely epic classification. Like planeswalkers…

So another question do angels even really look like the stereotype of wings. Don’t get me wrong i love Archangel Razia along with the next fan boy… But I mean we know jesus didn’t really look like stereotype jesus, he would have had a tan dark eyes etc… and what about daemons… I mean there the imagery is taken from man other religions to minding the pun daemonise them… Has anyone seen an angel or a deamon? (I mean here in this forums?)

I’ll be thinking about this till the morn another discussion for another time… and another thread…

Angels are pure spirit, so no they do not have bodies like we do.

From the CCC:
330 As purely spiritual creatures angels have intelligence and will: they are personal and immortal creatures, surpassing in perfection all visible creatures, as the splendour of their glory bears witness. 190

You’d really be okay with being eaten, assuming the creature could prove its superiority to you? Would you just climb into the oven?

Apparently the Germans felt they were more evolved than Jews, Poles and Slavs. Although they did not, as far as I know, consume them.

I wonder, is a lion more evolved than a gazelle? A cougar more than a deer? How about a wolf more than a man?

But that is way off topic.

I don’t want to derail but to add to what was said here, no I don’t think they consumed them internally but the Nazis did make soap from the fat of the dead Jewish bodies, which those in prison were given to use. 😦

Well said. The problem with stereotypes, or lumping together large groups of people under simple headings, is that it dehumanizes each individual in that group. Once we start devaluing any human life, it becomes frightenly easy to lose sight of why Murder, Abortion, and Euthenasia are all unfallible teachings for us.

Remember, Pope John Paul II severely condemned even capital punishment in Evangelium Vitae. If we have grave concerns for human beings whom we belief to have performed heinous acts, how can we justify denigrading people whose only ‘crime’ is that they have not yet found their way to their Savior and the Mother Church?
Excellent points. I’m still confused on the squaring of capital punishment with ‘all human life is equal’…is it or isn’t it??? I am speaking of state-sanctioned killing here.

I am confused by your last phrase. Do you mean state sanctioned murder (e.g. Nazi policies) or state administered justice which is sanctioned by Church teaching (e.g. executing Ted Bundy)?

Yea i see the flaw now. It’s all to do with the concept of murder. To an atheist the death of a first trimester embryo is nothing more than killing a plant. Where as to a theist it is the death of a life as that life has a soul…
There’s plenty of pro-life atheists, have you googled to find the bigger groups of them?

Same with homosexual prolifers, these groups recognize that when they take big Daddy (god) out of the scene, it comes down to the government. And if the government can rule over who dies and who lives, then our society is not one of rights, but of privileges granted to people based on their attributes, such as orientation, religion, age, race and gender.

Anyone with half a brain and two courses of history can see where that causes a problem down the road.

No I’d fight it out, be caught in a wraith dart ship. Thrown into a cell to be savored by the hive’s queen when she desired. Without weapons i have no chance of taking on a wraith so it’s more like struggling into the oven, and realizing how screwed you are and just chilling out…Theres always the option of servicing the wriath, one could only hope to be so lucky. (purely a science fictional example)

The church sactions killings? thats wack, thats not right at all. You can’t be all pro life about embryos and then be okay with the death penalty… thats just not right…

Oh i also like how you used the words “state sanctioned murder” and “state sanctioned justice” it was very ironic… nicely done… I don’t know who Ted Bundy is but i like the way you compared it to Nazi Police killings which were “justice” at the time… HAZAA…

Abbadon,
I may not understand your first post…but the above is RIGHT ON, in my opinion. Murder is murder…no exceptions for the state. That is the true pro-life position, IMO.

There is no “equal justice” in our present system,(i.e. the exonerations…-I’ve heard one of them speak). Even one life taken unjustly is one too many. The state has no business in the killing business, period. Take a look at Catholic vs Capital Punishment. www.cacp.org

I am afraid you are incorrect. The Church does say that execution for certain crimes, such as premeditated murder, is a permissible punishment. But it does place a pretty high standard on it and discourages execution. But it does not forbid it.

There is a huge difference between murdering an innocent, unborn baby and executing a convicted murderer. To equate an innocent baby with a guilty murderer is not logical.

Nor is it Biblical.

And, as virtually any American knows, Ted Bundy was multi-state serial rapist and murderer who, after escaping from jail at least twice and murdering people after each escape, was finally caught in Florida. He was executed there after spending more than 15 years on death row.

As for your insulting review of my post, that is not very consistent with the “tolerance” you so loudly proclaim. But I expect such behavior from “tolerant” leftists.

Yes this is true.
