Abortion debate - organs

That is still actively doing something. She has to go in and pay for a medical procedure to do that. I don’t have to have a medical procedure to not donate my organs.

But what is your opinion on the fact that most women gave permission (by having sex) and then take it back? Would you be okay with someone donating a kidney and then deciding 3 mo later they want it back?
 
So you’re appealing to the difference between doing and allowing?
 
I like the appeal that was made there about donating an organ and then wanting it back - now where did I put that scalpel…:cool:

Actually (agreeing with others) your opponent does have point. She’s trying to ask you where you draw the line between bodily autonomy and the right to life. It’s a crude version of the violinist thought experiment (see spot.colorado.edu/~heathwoo/Phil160,Fall02/thomson.htm).

My thought experiment might be able to differentiate abortion from the scenario you’re opponent is giving, however, by redefining the relationship between the mother and the unborn child. (See post #307 forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=423616&page=21).
