Abortion for Rape victims

Today I have a couple of friends and family members who are unfortunately for keeping abortion legal. They made arguments about rape victims getting abortions. I believe in “adoption not abortion” But these arguments stumped me but I hope you guys can answer these:

*]If a girl who was raped has a baby and gives it up for adoption. How is the child going to feel when it looks for it’s mother, finds her, and has to hear the story of his/her tragic birth?
*]A woman still has to carry that baby for 9 months and deal with the pain of pregnancy (i.e. the child kicking, morning sickness, going into labor etc.)
*]Why give the man who raped her a child? Why bring that monster’s seed into the world?

Hope you can answer these, I can’t

The answer is rather simple. Abortion is murder, or the killing of an innocent person. Is it right to kill a person because they might have difficulty dealing with an issue in the future?

Abortion does not unrape anyone.

If the rapist has other children, a 3 year old and a 17 year old, do we execute those kids as well?

And no matter how difficult it is to hear the story of someone who was not conceived in love but in an act of violence, do we kill a person because he has to hear a really horrible thing? Should we kill people instead of telling them that they have cancer or that they have lost their jobs?

Nothing makes abortion right. Nothing. It is about killing a person.

As for the others you have some answers. For #3, you are not giving the man – a rapist – a child. The child is separate from the crime of his father. Abortion would punish the child for the sin of the father.

“The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children for the fathers, but every one shall die for his own sin.” Deut. 24:16.

1. What about people adopted from parents who abandoned them, mothers abused drugs and alcohol during their pregnancy? Is a dark history enough to say that adoption is out of the question?
2. Are you sure they thought that the pains of pregnancy, in and of itself, are problematic? Are you sure they didn’t say it would be difficult, psychologically, on the raped mother?
3. Who said he was entitled to anything?

I don’t find any of these questions to be hard to answer at all. First of all, I’ve known many people who have genuine reason to be ashamed of the actions of their parents. None of them have expressed a wish that they’d been killed by an abortion. Adopted children do not have to research their birth mothers, but if they do, they are probably already assuming that an unpleasant story is coming their way. Do you really think that hearing the truth is a fate worse than death?
A pregnancy can be quite uncomfortable, but abortion comes iwth its own risks and pains, both physical and emotional. Aside from that, the discomfort of a pregnancy is not an excuse for murdering an innocent child.
Finally, are we now applying sentences to the children of a criminal? If my father rapes someone, are you going to kill me?

If a woman is raped and gets pregnant because of it, she can put the baby up for adoption and choose a closed adoption. She could perhaps request that the adoptive parents to never tell the child that they were adopted. Also, if the child later in life finds out that they are adopted, looks for their birth mother and finds her, she can choose to decline to answer any questions, although the silence may be an answer in itself.

First and most important: abortion is the deliberate murder of a defenseless child. That alone, makes it case closed.

But to go even further and address the contentions:
1. Others have done a good job of countering this. And on the contrary, how might the child feel when it realizes that most children in its situation would have been aborted, but its mother chose to save it?
Let’s even suppose that the child finds out his story, and, in sorrow for its mother, says that it wishes it had never been conceived or given life for her sake. Can we shoot it?
1. The pregnancy is the doing of the rapist, therefore he is to blame for any problems it poses. It is pointless and incredibly cruel to punish an innocent child with death because it poses unwanted inconvenience.
2. As others have said, the child will not have anything to do with its father. Also, this sounds a lot like eugenics. Is crime genetic? If so, we should probably kill the families of criminals, right? Or imprison them for life? Or at the least, have them forcibly sterilized?

None of these reasons justify murder, the suffering the mother may endure would not be sufficient reason for taking the life of another, and the suffering that the child *might *endure because of the circumstance surrounding his conception is also no justification because #1 you don’t know, and #2 everyone suffers in this life, and it’s not the worst thing, sin is the worst you can do, suffering can be good or bad depending on how you take it(accepting it and uniting it with Christs suffering, or rejecting it but suffering anyways) but in any case of a child being conceived by rape and living, i’ve never heard of any of them suffering because of it, only happiness and gratitude for being alive…
as for the 3rd question, don’t forget it’s the mothers flesh and blood too, it IS her child, and it’s just not right to kill a child because of what MAY happen or how the child MAY turn out,
there’s a good quote i’ve heard which goes like this -
“If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.”
that applies to this very much…if you want what’s best for the child, you’ll do what’s best to the best of your ability, if you don’t really care about the child, you’ll find every reason to get rid of it…

this life is not about being happy and comfortable at every moment, we’re here to make it to heaven, and the fact of the matter is, abortion prevents a child from being baptized, and while we do not know what God does with that soul, it is our responsibility to err on the side of caution, we must think of the soul first, not the body, we do not have dominion over life and death, that is Gods dominion, not just taking our lives, but giving them! no one is created without Him willing it, and if a child is conceived in this manner, that is still Gods will, the only reasons someone might see that as cruel is if they see suffering as evil, a persons acts and intentions may be evil, but suffering is not evil, otherwise Christ would have had no part of it, and likewise would not have told us to deny ourselves, take up our cross daily, and follow Him…

when you get right down to it, it’s about the salvation of souls, but there’s another aspect to this that most don’t think of - the health of the mother, there are many complications with abortion, and a surprisingly high risk of life debilitating side effects, including death, why? well for one because abortion is unnatural, but you can check out the facts here - abortionfacts.com/effects/effects.asp

but as for these couple people you know who wish for abortion to be legal for the sake of rape victims, you can also let them know that less than 1% of abortions are from cases of rape, likewise less than 1% are from incest, and some similar small number for health related abortions(between 1 and 5%, i forget exactly, but i think it was listed on that site) whereas over 90% of abortions are preformed on perfectly healthy babies, and perfectly healthy mothers…does that small 6%-ish amount(a year) really justify the killing of over 3000+ babies a day?

so there’s several things at stake here - the soul of the baby, which cannot be baptized if aborted(even if we entrust them to Gods mercy, we still just don’t know what happens to them), the life and health of the mother, which has a high chance of complications with abortion, and then the souls of those who support and encourage abortions…these things hold a much higher importance over whatever suffering or trauma anyone might endure because of rape, the life of the soul is priceless, and it lives forever! people need to grasp that, it is incredibly selfish and cold-hearted to choose your comfort and ease over someones LIFE!..and there are virtually no deaths by child birth in America, so don’t be fooled by that, while on the other hand there are many deaths by abortions, sometimes for the mother, and 99% for the baby(some do survive…)

Analogies sometimes help people realize how they are being blinded by their emotions.
1. Ask them if they support the death penalty for rapists. I would have to imagine that a woman knowing the person that raped them was out of prison and running around free would have a much greater effect on them, then seeing their child. I would also ask them whether they think it is just that a woman would attribute the fault of the rapist on the child? This reaction may occur and the woman may struggle in viewing their child, but is that reaction just and acceptable?
2. Lets say you have a family where the man works and the woman is a stay at home mom. Her husband is killed and the breadwinner in the family is then gone. The wife then has no choice but to make do with what they have and try to take care of and provide for her kids. Her life is irrevocably changed because someone murdered her husband. Does she get the ok to commit a sin herself to correct the damage done when her husband was murdered? Is she justified in robbing a bank to make up for the income that was lost? Bad things happen that sometimes have permanent effects, but that does not justify committing a sin to fix it. That woman has options to help mitigate the damage done to her family that are moral, but nothing is going to replace the loss of her husband just as nothing is going to reverse the rape.
3. Is a child born of a rape, evil? Are children born from porn stars evil? The beautiful thing about how God works is that he can take the failures of men and turn them into our greatest victories. Just look in the Old Testament for evidence of this. There are many instances where a child is born out of a sexual act that was a sin, and God takes that child and makes them great.

Can you unplug yourself and get up and walk away, knowing the violinist will certainly die. Does he have a right to the use of your kidneys? More so because you didn’t volunteer for the job?

Keep in mind, that women are picky about their partners and there is a significant population of celibate males. Therefore, some will be always driven to employ rape to propagate their genes. That’s pure biology.

1.) Hypothetical question which doesn’t present a clear argument since the reaction is based on the individual. For all we know the person would be happy to be alive and inspired by the love which his/her mother showed for his/her wellbeing.

2.) The woman will have to carry the guilt and shame of killing an innocent child for her entire life. It is also said that only 1% of rape victims who become pregnant actually get abortions; that is a lower number than those who aren’t raped.

3.) Because the child inside her isn’t the monster and because all life has the right to live. Abortion doesn’t punish the rapist; it punishes the woman and the innocent life, living inside her.

Hahahaha.

The victim has to (1) recover from shock, (2) carry the pregnancy to term, (3) fight a depression, (4) give birth and (5) raise the child. Will blaming the rapist help the victim with any of these?

The rapist may be to blame, but practically, he is either out there free (and looking for a next victim to impregnate) or he is in prison, where the state will keep him warm, feed him three times a day, provide medical care… and, he gets to propagate his genes! (And, he can try next time after he’s out of prison. He already knows how to do it and why he got caught, so he will be more effective.)

With all these honest, celibate men out there who cannot find a partner and will not reproduce, why should society promote evolutionary success of a violent criminal?
