Abortion: For the good of the baby?

I’m answering just to help your niece, Racians. Its a couple of suggestions. Others may have better ideas.
  1. She keeps the child and will be the mother, the family helping her care for the child as a “village” for the child so the mother will still have time for her schooling, homework, extracurricular activities, yet still encourage her to focus more on her precious gift. It is a schedule that will require adjustment to; it does get hectic but gradually eases as the child gets older, as far as I know.
  2. Her mother is the mother, and the child will be told the truth when it is old enough and asks. So the child will be your niece’s “sibling”. Generally, this is a good suggestion but it denies your niece her instincts to care for the child or it might be done temporarily until she’s somewhat older for taking over the mother duties.
With her being so young, there is concern if her chest will make milk or not. Some babies can’t handle cow’s milk because its too high in nutrients, so goat milk is typically substituted. I can’t suggest baby formula but it is her [or the substitute mother’s] choice.

I hope this helps some. Please keep them in your prayers. I will do the same.**

In reply to sancte Joseph,
My comments -
Life is precious and it is a gift from God.
Whether a pregnancy scan reveals defects in a fetus/baby
does not mean abortion should be carried out or that it is
in the best interest of the mother.
No human has a right to take away life. Every life has a
right to live, whether born with deformity or whatever handicap
should not be taken away.
Whoever gives the ok to abortion should be jailed/prison for
murder because abortion is the murder of innocent life.
Peace,
Jossy

I was supposed to be aborted because it wouldn’t be easy to take care of me and it’d be a lot of money, you get the idea. The abortion was my grandmother’s idea. My mother refused to, though she’s not Catholic. I do suffer every day, and my quality of life is okay. I may have had depression every now and then and wished I had a “real” family. You know… one that cares and loves me, no matter what. All they see is a broken thing they can’t get any use out of. So I’m an outcast among family. Only my youngest sister chats with me.

Believe me, despite all this, abortion and euthanasia are NOT the answer. Love is. People need to learn to stop being cowards and going for everything that’s easy. We should never forget that Jesus surprises us…and often. He’ll use the weakest, the most wretched, you name it. I don’t feel special or anything, but its comforting to know that Jesus usually has big plans for people like me. I’m sure he’s calling me to be a nun. The difficult part is finding a convent or Order that’ll take me. I’m still trying, doggone it.

The rest of the time, I’m happy. Happy beyond belief. Happy because Jesus made me, happy because He loves me, happy because studying and learning is so much fun. I do understand where your father comes from, but its still a dangerous view for him to have. Its amazing people can think of abortion and euthanasia even when Jesus said to love all and your enemies, and not to kill is in the Ten Commandments.
Dear Serena,
I am very moved and just want to say -
Jesus loves you for who you, body and soul and I pray
that your desire to be a nun will be fulfilled soon.
What you said about people like you needing LOVE is very
true.
Stay strong in your faith.
Peace and Love,
Jossy

My tiny 14 year old neice was given an excessive amount of alcohol by her 19 year old cousin after which he had sex with her. All advice from the medical professions have been to abort the baby. She can’t really remember any of the details clearly and he is currently in the process of going to court for having sex with a minor.

She is having her baby with the support from the majority of our extremely large family, because she cannot stand the idea of killing her baby. I’m interested to know what you would suggest she do in this instance?
So sorry about your niece. This is one of the worst things that
can happen in a family.
All these aside, I say - support her in her decision to keep the
baby. She is a strong young woman.
Sincerely, Jossy

Me and my dad were having a little discussion. And he, like me, is catholic. So we know the Catholic view on abortion. Long story short…

He said that the only case he would think abortin is right is if it’s for the good of the baby. i.e. if the baby would come out mentally retarded, or comes out with something missing (arm, leg, etc)
Basicly if the baby would suffer after it was born.

How would yall respond to this???
The murder of an innocent child can never be a solution.

Thanks. smiles Don’t forget that Jesus loves you too. Its cute you called me “Serena”. My name’s Mina. 😃

Nope, abortion is never ok.

I’m 17 and was born with treacher collins syndrome, i’ve suffered greatly. I had eight surgeries, have more to come, and suffer from post traumatic stress disorder. I’ve been through so much just because I was born imperfect and different, which many times complete strangers have taken delight in reminding me that I’m ugly. But i am a very happy person and filled with joy for having a wonderful family and my faith.
I could have died when I was an infant or the times I fell ill, but I am very happy to be alive. I’m glad God blessed me with the chance to live! It makes me so sad to think about all the souls who won’t get the chance to love life because of abortion.

Granted I don’t know of every birth defect but, I knew some kids when I was in High School that had Down Syndrome how seemed perfectly happy and fit in alright.

I would say that there is NEVER a reason to abort a baby no matter what, even if someone thought it was for the “good” of the baby, we can’t do evil so that good can come of it. Abortion is murder and a sin against God, it would always be a grave evil.

How does he know that child isn’t a saint? Who knows how someone that is handicapped can influence others to become holy

They will do it by seeing God in this person and treating them like they do

Whatsoever you do to the least among us you to to Me, says Christ

Would your father have aborted Christ?

Welcome, Tambourine. What a wonderful witness you are to the gift of life!

Perhaps this has already been said, but I ponder what state of being is possibly considered worse than not-being, ie, murdered.

I am reminded of a victim of chemical abortion who failed to die in the process. Because of born alive acts, she could then not be killed. However, the medication given the mother to kill the child in the womb left her with several mental conditions. And yet when she speaks she emphatically states that her conditions are nothing compared to the horror she feels at the fact that she came so close to being denied the right to exist a full life as her own person.

We cannot, as HUMAN BEINGS, judge people who are mentally or physically challenged as having a lower life-form or right than us. That is animalistic at best.

Perhaps there is something to “ignorance is bliss”. Kind of like children, they don’t have all that much to think about and on the whole seem happier than most adults in this world…
I could scream or laugh at this, based on personal experience, you are about as wrong as someone could get.

Vraiment? Show me a child with the same level of concerns an I have and I’ll show you a case of child abuse or impropriety in raising a child.

If a person has their child working 10+ hour days, worrying about national security, constantly responding to crises, balancing the income verses the bills, worrying about morality and the state of moral affairs of the society, all while trying to deal with complex relationships with people who may not share the same moral values, then there is something severely wrong with the way they are raising their child. Don’t get me wrong, i’m not complaining, but the average childhood is MUCH more carefree than my life.

Wow.

You mean the clusters of children living in your corner of the world are well-fed and such? Great. Wonderful.

I pass around these numbers when it seems helpful to do so. Here’s a little look at the larger (real) world:

Numbers quoted from research study by Phillip M. Harter, MD, Stanford University

Year of his research report is unknown to me…I’d guess, maybe 15+ yrs ago. However, as of today, he is still teaching and practicing medicine as an Associate Professor of Surgery at Stanford University, Palo Alto, California. –2003

****This might give you a different look at the world. It might change your ****world-view, expanding it or shrinking it. According to Dr. Phillip M. Harter ****of Stanford University, if we could shrink the earth’s population to fit into ****a village of exactly 100 people, with all human ratios remaining the same, ****it would look something like the following: **

“There would be

57 Asians
21 Europeans
14 would be from the Western Hemisphere, both north and south
8 Africans
52 would be female
48 would be male

**70 would be non-white **
30 would be white
70 would be non-Christian
30 would be Christian

**6 people would own 60% of the world’s wealth **
and all 6 would be from the USA
80 people would live in substandard housing
70 people would be unable to read and write
50 people would suffer from malnutrition
1 person would be near birth
1 person would be near death
1 person (yes, only one) would have a college education
1 person would own a computer”

What do you think? Is childhood an easy gig for most children?
