I found this thru Fr. Dwight Longnecker’s blog, it is from a sermon by Episcopal priest Katherine Ragsdale:
When a woman finds herself pregnant due to violence and chooses an abortion, it is the violence that is the tragedy; the abortion is a blessing.
When a woman finds that the fetus she is carrying has anomalies incompatible with life, that it will not live and that she requires an abortion – often a late-term abortion – to protect her life, her health, or her fertility, it is the shattering of her hopes and dreams for that pregnancy that is the tragedy; the abortion is a blessing.

When a woman wants a child but can’t afford one because she hasn’t the education necessary for a sustainable job, or access to health care, or day care, or adequate food, it is the abysmal priorities of our nation, the lack of social supports, the absence of justice that are the tragedies; the abortion is a blessing.
And when a woman becomes pregnant within a loving, supportive, respectful relationship; has every option open to her; decides she does not wish to bear a child; and has access to a safe, affordable abortion – there is not a tragedy in sight – only blessing. The ability to enjoy God’s good gift of sexuality without compromising one’s education, life’s work, or ability to put to use God’s gifts and call is simply blessing.
One certainly can’t accuse her of waffling on the issue, like the “Well, let’s keep it legal but work to reduce the number of abortions” crowd.

She also has a few choice words about conscience exceptions:
This isn’t particularly complicated. If your conscience forbids you to carry arms, don’t join the military or become a police officer. If you have qualms about animal experimentation, think hard before choosing to go into medical research. And, if you’re not prepared to provide the full range of reproductive health care (or prescriptions) to any woman who needs it then don’t go into obstetrics and gynecology, or internal or emergency medicine, or pharmacology. Choose another field! We’ll respect your consciences when you begin to take responsibility for them.
Quite right! No one who has their heart set on a career delivering babies should be allowed to unless they are also prepared to murder them at the mother’s request. GRRrrr!!!

I’m sorry but those views are just downright EVIL! 😦

A supposed “priest” who should only have God’s best interest at heart, is telling everyone in the congregation it is perfectly a blessing to put an end to an innocent life that God has willed into existence.

What I don’t understand is, why do people believe this rubbish? It is so blatantly obvious that this is wrong!

It makes absolutely no sense from a Christian perspective - Catholic or not!!! God makes babies…people don’t make babies. How can killing a baby be a blessing???

I had an abortion because I was in university and didn’t have the financial means. My boyfriend didn’t want the baby either. I was pushed towards abortion by his family and my own selfishness. I murdered my baby out of convenience.

I know what I did was wrong and I don’t deny otherwise…it definitely was not a blessing!!! My baby would have been born in June and would be 14 this year. THAT would have been a blessing.

God bless you for understanding the gravity of what you did, and then recieving the subsequent grace from God to repent.

I was friend to someone who had an abortion about 10 years ago. She did it because she was scared and didn’t want to get the father in trouble. The father subsequently called her a psycho and didn’t believe a word she said, slandering her name around everyone. It was horrible. And she was mortified, to say the least.

Although I hadn’t come back to the Church at that time, I still believed what she did was wrong. I never said a word to her about it because I believe she knew this as well. I tried to take care of her the best I could until she got back onto her feet. I do pray for her now when I remember her.

Although I detest abortion with my very being, as we all should, I think we all need to realize the pain that the mother goes through when she has one. It is truly an evil act that takes it’s toll on those of us who realize it. Those who don’t will keep pursuing it in total oblivion. For both those who have repented of it and those who have not, we need to pray.

God Bless,
Snert

The Fool, The Fool, The Fool the Hypocrit.

Murder is Murder no matter what. Murder is evil and she is justifying it. This is wrong.

This country is headed the same way as the Roman Empire because of Aborotion and she is contributig to it by talking like this and giving bad example.

Anyone who is or was in a position to reverse Roe V Wade and did not will be have to answer when they die.

…When a woman gives birth to a child but that that child has colic and the woman can’t sleep, so she smothers him, it is the colic that is the tragedy; the smothering is a blessing.

When the child becomes a teenager and gets mouthy and disrespectful and drives the woman nuts, so she whacks him with a frying pan and smashes his skull, it is the the hormones that are the tragedy; the frying pan is a blessing.

And when the woman is old and in a nursing wasting up all her children’s inheritance on medical bills, so they pull the plug – there is not a tragedy in sight – only blessing.

I’ve said this country is going to go the way of the Roman Empire years ago, but not merely because of abortion…

Because of the ideology that teaches “abortion (among *many *other things we’re accepting without hesitancy) is perfectly moral”.

Like the Roman Empire towards it’s end, this country’s morality is degrading at an alarming rate. And also like the Roman Empire, only a few can see this. I was beginning to think I was in a very distinct minority in seeing that, but then I came to CA and found others who think the same. So I know now that it’s not just me… :frighten:

But that said, there is always hope, and so we need to pray! :crossrc: This country doesn’t have to end up like the fallen Roman Empire.

Anything that can bring you to God is a blessing. I doupt that this happens much though.

This "priestess"should be instructed to read Isaiah before it is too late.“woe be unto him(her)that calls evil good and good evil”.

They are of the World.

Catholics are not of this world…

JOHN 17
because they are not of the world, as I (Jesus) also am not of the world.

Particularly if the woman’s name is Katherine Ragsdale.

Ooo! Shouldn’t’a said that!

Thank you for this post. It must difficult to relate something so personal on such a public forum, but your post, in spite of my anger towards the absurd rants we read in the first post, moved me to prayer for all those who are victims of abortion, including those mothers and fathers who suffer for the wrong decisions they made in their past.

How about “If you aren’t prepared to nurture a child in your womb, don’t have sex”?

How about “If you aren’t prepared to nurture a child in your womb, don’t have sex”?
That’s what it SHOULD boil down to.The world has perverted sex from its procreative purpose and its role as part of the Sacramental union between a husband and wife.
