This is simply not the case. Satanists do not believe they will be “blessed” with what they want if they devote themselves to Satan. This is a common caricature that has no basis in reality. Any devoted thoughtful Satanist knows you can’t “slap God in the face”, literally or figuratively. If a satanist were to believe such a thing, then they would have a serious misunderstanding 1) of the nature of God, 2) God’s permissive will, 3) free will, and how those are all interconnected so that the human person can come to a free and deliberate choice to love God.Plus satanists believe he will “bless” them with what they want , generally power but sometimes money, possessions or sex. they also know to get what they want they have to give satan something he wants. He wants destruction of innocents and he needs a blood sacrifice. He wants something that will slap God in the face and what better way then with an abortion?
I would like to remind you that it is not Satan who apes the sacraments, but human persons. Humans need the material, these outward signs, not the angelic. The devil, no doubt, has his hand in such things, but perhaps in a different way…Of course Satan is going to do things that are a perversion and evil mockery of god, and since the center of our faith is the sacrifice of the mass, it logically follows that Satan followers would try to imitate that in the most perverse evils ways possible–such as black masses and offering abortions directly or indirectly to their false god.
Does the devil mock God by having his followers turn the sacraments on their head? (I don’t think so.) Or is he really just working diligently to distort the person’s image of God? The distorted image that is then possessed is not of God at all and therefore false. It ends up being a false image of the human person. Why would a false image of God involve a false image of the human person? Because human beings are made in the image of God. If you get the image of God wrong you are always going to get the image of the human person wrong. Satanism is a manifestation of idolatry which is therefore a manifestation of the falsification of the Imageo Dei, what it means to be the image of God. Satanism distorts, in a unique way, the Imageo Dei of the human person. How does it do that? It can only do that if the relationship between man and God and man and neighbor is necessary for the full mirroring of the image of God in the human person. (Think Trinity) If satanism is linked to idolatry, and idolatry is linked to the false image of god, and a false image of God is linked to the false image of the human person then satanism involves a false image of the human person, precisely in his relational dimensions. Precisely in the capacity of man to relate to God and neighbor.
I have responded to your initial post, not because I thought you were equating the Mass and what goes on their to what Satanists do, but to show you that Satanists can and do follow the same line of thinking when it comes to the sacraments and the Mass that Catholic’s do.I’m kind of just responding to people’s general confusion. Which included your question. I just needed to clarify my point that I don’t know what satanists are thinking, and the logical train I’m following is only that they would of course attempt to mimic our sacrifice in thte most evil ways possible, not that their sacrifice is in any way comparable or equal to ours.
This is why I find it so difficult to swallow that Zach really had in-depth experience and knowledge of Satanism. (Well that, and you said “We” offer the mass without making the proper distinctions for the role of Christ, the priest and the Church when the Mass is offered… But that is beside the point) He seems to never have moved passed an elementary understanding of God and Satan.
Which is just another red flag I suppose.
