Abortion Stats -- WOW

I agree. It would be sadder.

I think the biggest drawback to adoption (if you want to call this a drawback) is that the woman still has to bear the stigma of having and giving up a child. In our society that has never been looked on as a favorable thing. Face it , the woman has to carry the baby to term, endure questions from everyone around her and then give up the baby whereas an abortion can be over and done with in a weekend. We need to make sure that society doesn’t look down on these women for giving her baby for adoption. Look at how we talk about it - “giving up” the baby. Not really a favorable option for a lot of people

It is such a complex issue.
And I think Daddy should be cuffed to the Mother so everyone can see it takes two to create a baby. Another instance of our society seeing only one side of the story and the female takes all the blame. 🙂 Peace.

But there is good news.

People among my generation (18 - 25) are becoming more and more pro-life. I was reading about it on a website which quoted these young people as saying that they realise that it could’ve been them that was aborted, and therefore reject the lies of the abortionists. The ugly truth about abortion is coming out now and the number of abortions is declining.

There is hope after all.🙂
I realize that I could have been aborted, but abortion doesn’t bother me. That thought doesn’t bother me at all.

I had no idea it was this bad.

guttmacher.org/pubs/fb_induced_abortion.html

That is very very sad. Maybe it is easy for me to be pro-life as I am a male, yet that is just sad. That is more than all the americans killed in all the wars ever. There are more deaths from abortion than all the wars in the world combined, I’d guess. About 20 million russians died in WWII.

It is just jaw-dropping. I didn’t realize it was this big.

This is not just a Christian problem, this is a social problem… I’d even consider it a crisis. Very sad. All those children that never got a chance, they all could have changed the world… they were never able to be.
Roe V Wade should have never happened. The USA ws founded on Freedom of choice .we have no right to take away another person freedom of choice.

And unborn children can’t choose. That is why their Mother, Father and wishfully thinking, their government is there to protect them.

Imagine how easy adoption would be if all those babies wouldn’t have been aborted!
Also, they have the medical know-how to take a human embryo from one woman and implant it into another woman’s womb who is unable to conceive on her own. This seems to me the obvious answer to eliminating abortion. Just have the women who don’t want the child give it to someone who does. They can’t cry that their “right to choose” is being violated, and the child isn’t killed.👍

Well, I do not see how realize that one can be aborted moves anyone. In retrospect, I really do not care. Why would I want to be born in a world filled with poverty and suffering?

Oh, that’s easy. “…To know, love, and serve God in this life so you can enter into the joy of heaven in the next…”

But, you probably knew someone would say that.

That’s okay, we’ll still look forward to meeting you there and calling you our brother.

I almost think what is sadder is this statistic:

• The abortion rate among women living below the federal poverty level ($9,570 for a single woman with no children) is more than four times that of women above 300% of the poverty level (44 vs. 10 abortions per 1,000 women).

I think as Catholics we not only have to say we’re pro-life but we have to address why abortion is an attractive option to some people. It doesn’t do any good if we condemn abortion without addressing the root of the problem./quote

Ah the better dead than uderfed argument. Your statistic is meaningless-what is the difference in the rate of abortions between the poor and the middle class? If abortion is caused by poverty why are any rich people getting them? The root cause of abortion is a callous disregard for life. Period If poverty makes abortion necesaasy then why not allow the killing of the poors children up until their 18th birthday?

I counseled in a Crisis Pregancy center for 5 years. I never had someone tell me they were aniticipating getting an abortion for finacial reasons. The main reason was pressure from parents or boyfriends . In our center we provided finaicnal assistane for those who needed help although WIC and Medicaid provide generous funding for this both before and after child iwas born. We helped them explore the option of placing their child with another loving couple. We also offered a Jr College Scholarship for young women who kept their child .

Too often we see the Left adopt the callous attitude that these children must die until society adopts the social and political philosophy they adhere to. The children are used as a political tool to try and force society to adopt their agenda. There is NEVER an excuse for killing children . Never.

Your statement assumes that people are born poor and that they stay poor. At least in the USA there is no caste system that keeps people poor.

The most moving argument for me is that with so many children being aborted, you never know if any of these children could grow up to be great contributors to society. With 45 million children in the USA alone, how do we know if any of them could have cured cancer or developed some safe, renewable energy source that would put big oil out of business?

There was once a billboard that read:
Dear God, Send me a cure for my cancer.

I did send you a cure…but you aborted him.

So even if you were going to die no excuse? Also I think there is actually many root causes of abortion. It doesn;t all go back to the woman being callous of human life or whatever. Also just because you haven;t seen finicial reasons doesn;t mean there isn;t any. And maybe in some areas there is very little help women especially poor women can get. But anyway I donlt think you can just lump people all together like that.

So you believe there are occassions when it is acceptable to kill ones child. Can you edcuate us on any reason that applies to a child a week before they are born that does not likewise apply to a child a week after they are born?

Well the law is a huge one. That being said I am totally against abortion unless the mothers life is at risk

I donlt think there is any reason other them maybe the mother will die without it that a baby should be alllowed to be aborted a week before it is born. In fact I think it is illegal in many states. But really I think you would be hardpressed to find any prochoicer that thinks that is ok…

Dear Calliso. I think you need to re-read the post by nz2thrght. The core of this posting, to me, is the fact abortion could be avoided if aid for other options was given to women whatever their social status. We who are against abortion are so quick to jump on the bandwagon to overturn Roe vs. Wade (I’m all for it, by the way.) that we forget those women standing alone with what they perceive is an unsolvable problem by any other means than abortion. We need big lobbies in Washington for organizations such as Birthright and others who do offer love and support to such women. Life is scary when you are by yourself. 🙂 Peace.

Actually the only ones who are there for women standing alone is pro-life . in most cases our culture, the father of the child and the so called pro-choice oraganizations are pushing her as hard as they can for her to kill her child. Abortion is a BILLION dollar a year industry, Those who want her to kill her child are in it for the money. We aid and abette this evil when we claim to oppose it but rationalize why women do it.

I’m not rationalizing. It’s called empathy and concern for individuals. So AGAIN, what do we do to support those who find themselves in what they PERCEIVE to be an intolerable situation and believe abortion is the only way out.

We volunteer at pro-life crisis pregnancy centers and we never vote for those who support abortion and when we emhasize we NEVER accept that there is ANY reason for one to kill their child. There is never a situation where the only way out is killing your child. never.

We most certainly dont show empathy with a women by telling her society let her down and we are so sorry she had no choice but to klill her child. We tell her we are sorry she was deceived into believing it was acceptable for her to kill her child.
