Yes, if you mean “survival needs”…but learning to trust in God and by making a “gift of ourselves” for another’s good, helps to dispel our self-centeredness and pride. That’s why love without sacrifice isn’t true love.

adoption…few minutes of pleasure…9 months of suffering…birth to the child, give to couple who can share their love, pray hard that you will be forgiven…then live a better life!!!

No – unfortunately, animals are aborted every day at shelters. Many times when young cats come into the shelter newly pregnant, they are spayed immediately despite their condition. The same with dogs. There are times when pregnant animals come into the shelter in distress and an early Csection is the only way to save the animal. Sometimes the babies don’t survive.

So no – I don’t think you are right on this one.

Your name brings back old memories of an evening walk in Limerick during my journey to Galway Bay. You and my daughter belong to the same religion. And I know that the show must go on.

I have said what I needed to say on this thread. But before I move on, my only comment is that when it comes to an individual, there are times when feelings run so deep that they seem beyond understanding. I care.

Again, I was saying simply changing the name of an item does not change its nature. If you are asking what is a human person it is a composite of body and soul made in the image of God. Is this a philosophical exercise? I ask because it would seem self evident that a rational person knows exactly what a human being is.

Indeed. I find it almost amusing we now need some type of “proof” that a baby is a human. How have we fallen so far away from reason and truth?

I am reading a book about the NurembergTrials after World War II. It is interesting that the Germans on trial used tthe exact same argument to defend themselves that you do above.

Of course its an argument as old as Cain himself-we saw it advanced to defend slavery in this country also.

**A baby is a human if it comes from a human being. A human fetus is also human. My only disagreement is over the word “baby” when discussing a fetus. It will become a baby if it is given birth to; until that time it is a fetus.

This is where I find pro-life people melodramatic, but in view of the larger picture it is of lesser significance. I just don’t like being manipulated by the Sarah Bernhardt approach to the subject, and I find it curious that pro-life people are offended by the term “fetus”, which accurately describes the gestational point of most conceptions that are threatened by abortion.

Absolutely!!! We spay/neuter every animal before it leaves the facility. And we try to find foster homes for all the puppies and kittens. Unfortunately, you cannot save them all. But we try.
