Is having an abortion of a no brain fetus a sin if the parents dontwant to see the baby after its born even though it will die within hours of the birth. The fetus is only 12 weeks or does the mother have to carry it to full term knowing what the results will be?😦

It is always a sin to directly end the life of a pre-born child. The life expectancy of the child after he is born does not change that.

Praying for this family.

I dear friend of mine’s daughter was in this situation. She knew that her baby would die within hours of birth.

When the precious baby was born, my friend was there, with all the family, to hold and love her grandson. The family took some lovely photographs. They gave the baby a name and place in the family. They will never regret this act of love and obedience to God’s gift of life.

There are actually documented cases of babies born without a brain living for a couple of years. Here is an example of a baby born without a brain who celebrated his 1st birthday newsfirst5.com/news/baby-born-without-a-brain-lives-for-first-birthday/
You can find more if you Google baby born without a brain

In these dolorous cases of grave diseases, our Faith and our Baptism demand that we trust God and we err on the side of a Miracle.

You are not alone. Lumina is a wonderful Ministry for families to find healing after abortions (often late term) due to adverse medical diagnosis: postabortionhelp.org/

What a beautiful story. The soul of that child was not imperfect in any way. The parents will one day be reunited with a grateful, loving child in heaven.

Praying for this family, and for God’s love to convict them to the truth.

My little sister was also born under similar circumstances. The doctors predicted she would live for 3 hours. She lived for nine days. I was about 4 or 5 at the time and I can still remember how blessed we were to have her with us, if only for such a short time.

Plus, we were able to baptize her and now we know for sure she is in Heaven!

A impressive testimony to human compassion.
Please be aware my comment was referring to the wonderful the family that had raised their child suffering from anencephaly. I apologize for any confusion or offence.

I will be visiting my best friend next month, who is the foster mother of a 22 year old man (they got permanent custody when he came of age as he is permantent total disability). He was diagnosed as having no brain before birth, born on with a brain stem and no brain, and consigned to a home for the hopelessly retarded (as it was called at that time) and not expected to live past 3 months, then a year, then 2, then puberty etc. While is head is abnormally small and misshapen, he has a vocabulary comparable to a 3 year old child, learned to walk, play basketball, vacuum floors (his favorite activity on one he is paid for in his sheltered job at a local college dining hall), ride horseback, and play with his 4 older foster brothers. He attended school and now sheltered workshop and is a joy to all who know him. I helped prepare him for first communion and his desire for the sacrament and love of Jesus are manifest and leaves no room for doubt. You should hear him sing Christmas carols (all year long, Gloooorriiiiaaaa is his favorite).

His natural mother was advised to abort but did not do it soon enough, gave birth and signed all rights away, the only thing we know about her is that she thought abortion was wrong, even though it was legal in her case.

bottom line such diagnoses are seldom firm and without possibility of error so such a drastic step as abortion is inadvisible even on medical grounds.
