we eat eggs all the time. we also use it for entertainment…smashing and wasting it. nobody complains. but do that to a chicken and people scream “ANIMAL CRUELTY!”.

its just different when you see something actually suffer. 🤷
Yes of course: “Out of sight out if mind!”

Use the intelligence of a two year old to argue a deep and crucial moral issue.

new question 😃

no its not proper because eventually everyone gets injured. so such a law means everyone would be killed sooner or later. so such a law is unthinkable. right? 😃
You are correct. And are now contradicting your own stated beliefs.:whacky::whacky:

Still wondering, how can you believe in God and not believe in religion?

Mere mortals cannot defeat the pagan goddess of wisdom, Sophia!

Look at all the fun she is having at your expense. Do not be taken in, it is useless. Never forget the words of St. Thomas A.

My personal view? An agnostic is a cowardly atheist (or secular humanist). To believe in God there must be substance behind the belief. Sophia lacks substance. She bounces from one fancy to another as it suits her.

People asked me when a fetus becomes a person. The answer is the 3rd Trimester:

*Last of all to mature is the cerebral cortex, which is responsible for most of what we think of as mental life–conscious experience, voluntary actions, thinking, remembering, and feeling. It has only begun to function around the time gestation comes to an end.
*

since fetuses can survive outside the womb by the 2nd trimester i would agree with the Roman policy that abortion is limited to:
Abortion in Italy became legal in May 1978, when Italian women were allowed to terminate a pregnancy on demand during the first 90 days*.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abortion_in_Italy

after that then only be extreme circumstances…like life when the mother’s life is at risk.

🙂
Since human life begins at conception, this Italian scenario doesn’t hold up either. Those pro-abortion folks who are wishing to seem as if they are reaching across the aisle, so to speak, use the “life of the mother”, and/or the rape and incest arguments a good deal, yet I’ve never seen Planned Parenthood or some other lobby or organization pounding the pavement to get even this much legislation passed. If abortions were truly limited to victims of rape, incest, and to save the life of the mother, then only 2% or less of the current abortions would be taking place. Us pro-lifers would still be pounding the sidewalk until it was done away with altogether, but at least, in the mean time, almost all abortion would already be gone. (though I have a cynical feeling that the definitions of rape and incest might become a little broader, and a lot more women would be fitting under this rule all of a sudden. If someone is getting an abortion now under any circumstances other than rape, incest, or lifesaving surgery to the mother, then I’m not sure how they are justifying this as anything other than birth control, or selfishness. They are murdering.

I’m sorry. I guess I got a little off track from your premise here, but it set off a lot of different synapses in me.

Peace to you,

Steven

It doesn’t matter if a fetus is sentient or not, it’s still a human being in the process of development.

SENTIENCE IS NOT A PREREQUISITE FOR BEING A HUMAN BEING.

You need to read the book of Wisdom (Wisdom of Solomon) in the Old Testament, especially 6:12 and on. Also Wisdom 1:4 and 1:6. We are not called to defeat Wisdom which is the Logos of God.

ok everyone, what do you think are the best ways to reduce abortion?

think up of 2 or 3 possible solutions.

  1. Teach the virtues and need for chastity and abstinence.
  2. Teach the actual nature and need of sexual relations, both chastity before and proper conduct after marriage.

In no particular order:
  1. make abortion illegal
  2. make it easier for women to give birth to their chldren by encouraging adoption of unwanted children and supporting unwed mothers who keep their children
  3. personal witness and teaching about the sanctity and dignity of human life
