About a book.

I have a book called, “Trustful Surrender to Divine Providence”. This book has the sorry about my spelling Nihil Obstat and the Imprimatur.

I am wondering if this book is Catholic doctrine. I havn’t been able to contact a priest about it so I thought I would ask on here for thoughts.

The book itself may or may not “doctrine” (I am not familar with the book you cite) but those 2 distinctions mean that the Church does not see any “doctrinal errors” in the document and that an Ordinary (Bishop) or someone who could act with that authority agreed that it was “fit to print”.

This is spot on.

the thing to remember is that in most any book like this, what is written should be taken in the same way as a private devotion would be. That is, the author is presenting the understandings, conclusions, devotions, exercises, disciplines, prayers etc. that have worked for him/her in his/her spiritual life and growth.
As such, one is not obligated to believe them as “teaching”.
