Look, for the record, I am still eighteen years old, fresh out of Catholic high school and very devout toward the Catholic. However, there is something I would like to clarify from all the other Catholics on this forum.

For some time now, I have been friends with this German, who is an occultist since at least the year 2010. He’s older than me by a few years, yet I can relate with him. We both speak English and German, and we both get along easily with the same interests in German history and culture, despite the great barrier in spiritual beliefs.

Like, for instance, he has no issues about using an Oujia board to contact spiritual entities – which he said that he incidentally got in contact with a certain entity that claimed to be the infamous SS Obergruppenführer Dr. Ing (Ingeniuer) Hans Kammler. (“Hitlers Geheimwaffenchef”) Just to think of at the top of my head.

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

About Dr. Kammler: “Dr.-Ing. Hans (Heinz) Friedrich Karl Franz Kammler (born 26 August 1901; date of death unknown) was a German civil engineer and high-ranking officer of the Schutzstaffel (SS). He oversaw SS construction projects and towards the end of World War II was put in charge of the V-2 missile and jet programmes. He is most commonly referred to as Hans Kammler.” Since the end of the war, there has been four or five versions of his death, and none of them has been proven to be true.

Now, I have no idea if I should still be an acquaintance with him or not, but what do you all think? Would I be in spiritual danger if I maintain relations with him, but not embrace his tolerance of the Occult?

You should point out to your friend the serious dangers and possible consequences of his activities and suggest firmly that he stop for his own sake. If he accepts this then by all means carry on the friendship. But be cautious and alert for any signs of a resumption of the behaviour. Any repeat then end any and all contact.

If however he refuses and rejects your advice then you would be wise to immediately break off all contact with him. This is for your sake. No possible good can ever come from being involved, however tangentially, with a person who dabbles in the occult. He may, without meaning any ill will, open you up to possible attack. STAY WELL CLEAR. Mark my words. Your friend has no idea what he is messing with. He will bitterly regret it if he persists.

Your friend is deceived. Satan knows of his interest and he is basically being contacted either by a demon masquerading as someone else or else by a damned human soul. Your friend is playing with fire.

Tell him, WARN him, pray for him. If he is Catholic tell him he needs to confess this and MAY need prayers of deliverance.

Having warned him then please, if ever he raises the issue of the occult again then tell him you do not want to discuss the matter. If he takes no heed then cut ALL contact. The devil is very, very cunning and can try to get at you via your friend.

Be safe.

Would you be in spiritual danger? IMHO yes.

I wouldn’t have anything to do with someone who uses a ouija board at all, let alone someone who appears to want to communicate with some murderous SS bigwig (and the SS were all bad).

I’d find better friends.

I agree.

Perhaps the following might sound a bit fanatical to some, but so be it.

The fact of the matter is that the occult is an opening up of one’s self to demonic influence, and I believe that such a person can be a spiritual danger to those around him.

Likewise, there’s the simple fact that this friend of yours might very well prove to be a bit of a temptation. You might not even understand why you’re being drawn to certain things, but you may find yourself struggling.

I think it best to stay away from presumption and from a certain (perhaps) unfounded confidence in your own spiritual life, and to simply err on the side of caution by avoiding close ties to such a person. Obviously, pray for them and offer sacrifices. Do your best to tell them that God loves them, and tell them how much He thirsts for them. Do not be afraid of the possible influences over him but, at the same time, stay away.

Some people do the Ouija board “for fun”…they don’t take it too seriously, they think it’s like a parlor game or entertainment (as the box says!).
You didn’t mention how often this friend tries it…and you didn’t mention anything else he does that you are worried about…
So I wouldn’t say that if he’s tried the Ouija board a couple of times, that makes him an “Occultist”.

Is there more?

Personally, I think he’s pulling your leg about contacting Obergruppenführer because he probably knows it freaks you out.
I mean…the “spirit” has to *spell out the words *a letter at a time! Is he saying the little pointer thing spelled out O-b-e-r-g-r-u-p-p-e-n-f-ü-h-r-e-r ??

.
Come to think of it, you might have a point. Sometimes, he can be a little lighthearted at time, even in times when it is best not to.

For sure I’d recommend staying out of that guy’s home at any cost. If he’s playing with dangerous forces, it’s possible he might not be the only resident if that house, if you catch my drift.

When I was in high school (17 or 18 years old) my best friend and my boyfriend at the time wanted to play with a ouija board. I told them I wouldn’t do it. They went ahead on their own. Now, they weren’t interested in the occult in general so they really had no clue what they were getting themselves into; they thought it was a silly game. Strange things started happening to my best friend, but not my boyfriend. It got to the point that she felt she was in danger so she spent many nights at my house, afraid to sleep alone at home. Her personality completely changed and our friendship declined. I eventually felt uncomfortable with the goings on, which is why our friendship ended before we graduated. She dealt with strange happenings for several years, even through college.

Every situation and friendship is different, so it’s possible you will be able to help your friend see the Truth. My faith was also not as strong as it sounds like yours is, though I knew enough to stay away from the so-called game. I don’t think ceasing the friendship just because of his interests is necessary, but, you need to be vigilant about protecting yourself. Eventually it may be difficult for you to continue a relationship with someone whose interests are so different from yours anyway. Pray for discernment from God in this situation and pray for your friend.

And, I second this. Stay away from his home.
