Please what is double jeopardy?

The whole episode is in the words: “God will provide for himself a lamb for the sacrifice” which referred to the sacrifice of Christ. And Abraham knew the necessity of a lamb from god.

The original post asked, “why would he test him again”; or alternatively, “why would he put him on trial again”.

Double jeopardy more or less means to put someone on trial for the same offense more than once with the same evidence. Here the offense could be “unbelief”.

My post was somewhat of a joke keeping in mind that double jeopardy is prohibited under U.S. Constitution.

DJ is also a selective wagering trial on a T.V. show.

Interestingly, given a later post more or less that “God knows all”, the question and answer of DJ and whether God is for it to be decided with evidence from the OT is absurd b/c humans don’t know all.

Absurd being completely foolish, man being mistaken, we can try and guess something about God without being absurd.

Because people are fickle and they change their minds.

Correct.
Here the offense could be “unbelief”.
But with different evidence. This is not a case of double jeopardy.

An example can be easily provided. Say that a man comes and says, “I can walk on this tightrope across to the other skyscraper. If you believe me, put some money in my hat.”

The crowd all puts money in the hat. They all believe him.

So, he comes back and says, “I can walk back across with my eyes blind folded, my hands tied behind my back and with one of you tied to my back.”

No money goes in the hat.

Different test of belief. We can and are tested, 100 times over, everyday.

There are many ways to test for belief. But Abraham’s faith proved supernatural.

Heb 11:17 By faith Abraham, when put to the test, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was ready to offer his only son, 18 of whom it was said, “Through Isaac descendants shall bear your name.” 19 He reasoned that God was able to raise even from the dead, and he received Isaac back as a symbol.

A father knows well whether his son will achieve a precise goal. He will help him in the stages and at last say : “now I know you have made it”.
