I inferred from recent news that Catholic adoption centres are not supposed to let gay couples adopt their children. Now what about individuals? Should practicing Catholics who had to for one reason or another give up their children for adoption [a theologically if not morally difficult situation at best] let their children be adopted by gay couples? Does the CCC say anything about this?

2202 A man and a woman united in marriage, together with their children, form a family. This institution is prior to any recognition by public authority, which has an obligation to recognize it. It should be considered the normal reference point by which the different forms of family relationship are to be evaluated.

A married heterosexual couple is the most likely and the most stable environment to sucessfully raise a child to be a fully functioning member of society.

It is unacceptable to use children as an experiment to see if they “turn out right” with homosexual couples. We have an obligation to look after Gods children, to make sure they are raised in a stable non-perverse environment.
