hi! i’m new to the forums, and i mainly came to get some answers. we’re studying about family planning and the issue about contraceptives in our health class (i’m a 15-year-old student), and i was wondering if there are some parents here who might be able to help me out (PLEASE, OH PLEASE! :gopray2: )

i just need to get these answered:
  1. how many children do you have?
  2. why (do you have that much number of children)? would you like more?
  3. what method of family planning do you use? or describe your way of family planning…
please…please…i will be very grateful for your answers!

Do you go to a Catholic school???

Why are you studying this?

Do you know about or understand Catholic Church teaching regading family planning.

1>I have 4 children

2>I have this # of children because that is how many children God blessed us with. If I was younger and in better health I might “want” to have another child. That does not mean that God does not have a plan for me. If I were to be blessed with another child I would recognize that God has a plan for me and I would be happy to accept it. Do you know the saying “The more the merrier”?

3>My husband and I do not use ABC. We have always left it up to God and our faith.

Personally, I am not judgemental of married couples who who do use ABC. My only concern with the Pill is that it may cause a new human to be aborted. Since I am against abortion, I could not in good faith use the Pill for this reason. I believe that married couples who use ABC are struggling with faith issues. Most of us do in all areas of daily life. Our faith struggles are between us and God.

  1. none
  2. I am not yet married, getting married in August. Hope to have many children
  3. I am currently taking classes to learn the Creighton model Fertility Care system (www.creightonmodel.com). Creighton is one model of Natural Family Planning and is a great method to monitor fertility and achieve or avoid pregnancy. We will be using it to achieve pregnancy once we are married.
Please note, while Natural Family Planning and Contraception are both methods of spacing and planning children, they are NOT the same thing. Natural Family Planning is not a contraceptive. **Contraception is always and everywhere a moral evil. **

Please also note that Natural Family Planning is NOT “the rhythm method”. Rhythm is a calendar method that is based on a predicted cycle. Natural Family Planning is a daily observation of actual fertility signs, and is not based on guesses or estimates.

I would also encourage you to visit the website www.omsoul.com to get some of their free literature regarding contraception, chastity, and natural family planning.

#1. We have 2

#2. We originally wanted 5 but the first one was a VERY difficult delivery. My wife and I are talking about a third but we’ll see.

#3. We used to use the Creichton model. Now we ‘use’ it but we don’t chart (so I hesitate to say that we’re using it). We’ve used it both to abstain AND to conceive.

WELCOME TO THE FORUMS.
  1. 3 living, 1 passed away
  2. we always wanted 4, yes I would like another but can’t
  3. Due to medical reasons, I can no longer have children.
God Bless you

  1. I have four kids.
  2. We wanted that many. If more came we would love them just much as the ones we have now.
  3. I use Natural Family Planning-Sympto Thermal Method. You can find out all about it at this great website:
www.ccli.org

Peace,
Jen

1- We have 2 children, a 21 month old daughter and a 2 month old son. We also have a 3 1/2 year old niece who lives with us most of the time, and is like our own child.

2- We have this many children because this is how many God has blessed us with so far ( We have been married 3 1/2 years). We plan to have as many children as God chooses to entrust to us. This could be quite a few, as we are quite young (23 & 26).

3- We use the “God will provide” method of family planning :). We know Natural Family Planning (Symto- Thermal Method www.ccli.org ), but we have no serious reasons to avoid pregnancy.

I hope this helps- I would be happy to answer more questions, I remember very well what it is like to be in a public high school!

Just wondering…is any one of the several “Natural Family Planning” methods being presented to you as part of this “health” class or is it all contraceptive based?

1.) Currently we have no children
2.) We only recently married and we do not wish to have children quite yet, eventually I would like to have two children.
3.) We use the Pill, it is simple, easy and effective.

You seem somewhat bent on making waves…advocating masturbation on another thread and disclosing Pill use here–both guaranteed to fan the flames on a Catholic web site. I see in your profile you are an agnostic…just curious about what brings you to Catholic Answers Forums?

Abstaining during fertile periods is simple, easy, and effective. As an added bonus, it won’t kill your babies that are accidentally conceived. One, because abstaining doesn’t kill like the pill does. And two, because a baby will never be an accident when you are open to life. Even better yet, you lower the risk of breast cancer by not using the pill. Basically, the pill is selfish with regards to the wife and the conceived children and true love is supposed to be selfless. You’re not tools for each other’s pleasure.

And as for barriers, how can you become one flesh when there is a barrier between you two? No selfish holding back, it’s the only way to go.

I hope you take the time to find more than just answers to these questions…
  1. Two, both miscarried
  2. Trying for as many as God will allow, although age could play into this, 2-3 would be a nice minimum.
  3. NFP, this has already been discussed (not the rhythm method). We used to use other forms, but they kept us from growing closer. Only after coming into communion with the Church and opening our lives more to God, did he give us some wonderful consolations of growing closer…

If you are a man, it is definitely easier for “you”. Oh, wait a minute I said “a man”. Probably doesn’t apply in your case.

  4. I have six children.
  5. I have these many children because my husband and I love children and God blessed us with 6 wonderful gifts.
As for having “more”? Health issues and financial issues have caused us to put the brakes on.
However…if I were to become pregnant again, we would welcome that blessing just as much as our others.
  6. Since my health problem was discovered we have been using natural family planning (NFP) - and have found it to be effective.

i have 2 children have been married 3 years. we will have as many kids as god wants us to. we will not use immoral means (contraception to stop his will). remember ALL christians thought contraception was a sin until the anglicans broke away in 1930…and remember contracetpion was illegal in the US…then within 20 years of legalizing it…abortion also became legal. Remember contraceptives like the pill actually aborts babies.

God bless…be a warrior for christ

I think this response could have been a little more charitable. :o

  1. None yet. I’m getting married in May
  2. We’re thinking about 2 or 3 (but totally open to God’s plan), primarily due to our ages.
  3. We’ve completed the course from Couple to Couple League (sympto-thermal method).

Hi fides, welcome to the forums. I am always happy to see so many teenagers here! God Bless You! Now, here’s my answers:
  1. We have 4 so far. 11, 7, 5, and 2
  2. We have this many children because God sent them to us. I am starting to feel like God wants us to accept another one. And that does not bother me at all. If it weren’t for financial difficulties and health issues during pregnancy (I have problems that worsen with each one) we probably wouldn’t worry about family size at all.
  3. We use NFP learned from the CCL home study course. It’s great for your marriage, your body, and your spirit!!

I could see why you would be upset by my response to this thread if the original poster had asked for only Catholic points of view, but he did not. I have no agenda here if that is what you are looking for, I simply enjoy exchanging ideas and beliefs. Besides, from what I have read the majority of Catholics use ABC, so clearly not all Catholics disagree with me.

This seems very charitable of you. If I were to take your example of a Catholic I would think they are all mean and spiteful if someone disagrees with them. However, I know many Catholics who are not so judgmental. They practice what they believe and accept that others may feel differently.

You can challenge my “manhood” all you wish. It does not affect me because I am not concerned with how others view me. I am not your typical “macho male” that must prove himself. You can call me a woman for all I care.
