So today is Friday of Lent which means we must fast. I know I read that what is allowed is 2 smaller meals and one larger meal. Now what I am curious about is does that include things like Candy? Ice cream? etc.

Fasting isn’t required on every single Friday of Lent, only on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. What is required on every Friday is abstinence - no eating meat.

Of course it’s admirable if you go above and beyond and fast anyway. Technically I suppose you could include candy or ice cream among the foods you eat - to me it really wouldn’t be in the spirit of fasting to be having sweet treats.

But on those two fast days the general rule is “no snacks” so unless you’re having ice cream and candy for one of your collations (the “small meals”), the answer would be no.

Liquids are allowed between meals, and exceptions are made for people with health (such as blood sugar) issues.
