The biggest problem is work. How in the world did you all get off from work for 2-3 weeks? Even worse because our wedding date is smack in the middle of when I am supposed to give performance reviews and hire/fire. Ha! Try getting out of that!
We each took 1.5 weeks off. For us, it involved making sure that we didn’t have any experiments running and mostly closing our labs up, with only minimal help from our supervisors to feed cell lines, etc., while we were gone. It didn’t hurt that my lab director was the one who had introduced us, or that he and his wife came to the wedding. 🙂

There is no requirement to go on a traditional honeymoon immediately after the wedding. You could go from your wedding to a bridal suite in a nearby hotel and just spend a night or two in the lap of luxury. Then you could plan to take a trip when your work schedule allows.

We were married on December 2nd, 2000 and planned to go to Rome for our honeymoon in February.
Our honeymoon consisted of one night in Niagra Falls on our way to pack up a U-haul in Cincinnati. My husband came down with the flu in Niagra Falls.
Two weeks later we found out we were pregnant and had to scrap the honeymoon to Rome because of morning sickness. 🙂 Isabella was born almost 9 months to the day of our wedding. 😉

Almost 6 years later…I have yet to go to Rome (but I DO have 2 kids and a great hubby)

Happy Honeymooning!
