Is it true that the Pope has apologize to Catholics for identifying Mary Magdalene a whore. Did they find her testimonies and declare her to be the thirteenth apostle of the catholic church. I was told this. However my priest told me that she was never classified in the catholic church as a whore that that was hear say. That the woman that they were going to stone was the whole when Jesus said" that he who has not sinned cast the first stone," and that was not Mary Magdalene. Is this true or not true.

The truth is that we do NOT know for sure.

Some people theorize that Mary Magdalene was the whore that Jesus saved from being stoned, while others theorize that Mary Magdalene was NOT the whore.

The truth is that this information has been lost to history, but people do claim evidence which indicates that she was not the whore.

BTW - she is not the 13th Apostle. Those false claims are by people who are trying to argue for female ordination. If Mary Magdalene was a appointed an Apostle (Bishop) by Christ, then she would have been sent out (hence the word “apostle”) like the true (capital “A”) Apostles were.

God Bless

Whether or not Mary Magdalene was a whore doesn’t matter: Luke 8:2 records that our Lord cast seven demons out of her.
The main thing is that she became one of our Lord’s most devoted disciples. What she became AFTER she encountered Jesus is what matters.

The more terrible her pre-conversion life, the more clearly would it show the spectacular power of God’s grace to a repentant sinner.
There’s no need for anyone to apologise for slandering her, or whatever.

“From sinner to saint”.

No,
Did they find her testimonies
No, there is no such thing.

No.

Yes, he is correct. What we do know is that she had seven demons cast out.

We do not know if she was the sister of Martha and Lazarus, the woman caught in adultery, or the woman who bathed Jesus’s feet with her tears and dried them with her hair.

We don’t know who the woman was.

While I am certainly no prude, I am somewhat shocked at the frequent ease with which the word “whore” is being thrown around here. Certainly the english language contains multiple alternatives for what is supposed to be a “family friendly” site?

Eh.

I strongly believe that she was the person who anointed Jesus’ feet with her hair.

Either way, she was still a person liberated by Christ from the power of the devil.

Regardless of what her life was like before her conversion is ultimately irrelevant. The Church has ALWAYS honoured her as a saint. The Church has also revered her as the “apostle to the apostles” since ancient times. This title shouldn’t be taken literally, but reflects the fact that the Lord first appeared to her, and she first brought the news of the resurrection to the apostles.

Pope Francis did, recently, elevate her annual memorial to a full feast. So yes, the Church is now giving her greater honour in a way…but she always was recognized as a saint.

Educate me, what other words are suitable for you to call a whore?

Wow. I guess charity has been pushed to the back burner.

I think I would use miss, m’am, dear or any other nonjudgmental term that would imply at least an ounce of respect and charity.

Please refrain from this vulgarity.
Especially in relation to a Saint of the Church.
But yeah…CAF has always forbidden such.

“person of poor morals” would suffice.

Why do you ask? It appears your priest already cleared the matter up.

So you would say, Miss Harlot, or madam whore. Keep it real. On the other hand I agree, I was not being very polite using the word whore. Sorry if I offended anyone. That was not a very good choice of words.

OP, it sounds like you are trying to set some kind of record for using the word.
Or that you are getting something out of it.
What is your obsession with the word? Even when people tell you it’s vulgar, or used erroneously, you just keep going like a child that just learned a bad word.
And this is your second thread, asking pretty much the same thing as the first, just worded differently.

No, not at all, I felt the same way you did what was the big deal in using the word. I simply wanted to ask a question. I admitted it was not the best word to use. I most definitely don’t come on here to offend anybody. And the man I felt was being sarcastic and a little rude. God bless you. No offence was ever intended on my behalf. And I’m 68, and lost memory on life support for over a month. They had to cut my throat in order for me to breath. I literally died. I lost a lot of memory and so I do forget easily and also will repeat myself sometimes. I had a feeding tube and was on a venerator to keep my heart beating. I was in one nursing home for a month and then another for another month. When EMS got me to the hospital my blood pressure was 260. They could not believe I did not have a heart attack or stroke. I am a walking miracle through the grace of God. I am now on oxygen 24 hrs. a day everyday. May God bless you, have a good day! The good thing was I had a priest come and give me my last rites before I went out. Better safe than sorry I thought.

Mary Magdalene is a perfect example of Jesus’ mercy, and of the perfect love and humility a penitent can possess. Like the woman who washed Jesus feet with her hair.

“Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven–as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.”

St Catherine Emmerich has her as the sister of Martha and Lazerus in her visions. We don’t have to believe this of course, but it’s allowable to believe, it is also allowable to believe she was a prostitute. It does nothing to detract from her love of Jesus or her sainthood.

That’s how I see it. They have murders that are saints.

God bless you, flower lady. I hope you are feeling better soon.
