I have just read something (I believe the author was a Seventh Day Adventist) that said that the CCC has omittied the Second Commandment and split another one in two to fill the gap…

Now if many of you have seen me post you know that I am formerly coming from an Evangelical Theological mindset, now am just looking for answers, which included considering the RCC.

Anyway, a lot of stuff on the site seemed like conspiracy theor"ish".

I know the Catholics on here will always answers and are cordial and I have found the answers to help me understand Catholicism more…so I’ll thank the responders in advance.

Peace,

Nick:)

Hey Mr. Nick.

I used to be Seventh Day Adventist and we do look for conspiracies for than is healthy.

As far as the 2nd Commandment. I have seen it lumped together sometimes with the first and just call it a “Don’t worship anything that ain’t God” and split the 10th “Don’t covet anothers wife” and “Don’t Covet anothers property”. And I have seen it counted it out like all Protestants do.
The Church hasen’t declared it to be counted one way over another. It is simply the prefrence of whoever is writing. I don’t think that one should worry to much about it since the “No Idols” part of the decalauge is still there, just how it is grouped is a lil diffrent.

P.S. since I grew up with it, I still count it the same way as you do.

Protestants don’t have a uniform division of the Ten Commandments.

Are you Catholic now?

My most humble apologies. I have never seen a protestant use any deviation from the stereotype.

Yes, I am Catholic.
