hey why do we say the creed during the eucharistic celebration? what does it means to all us? and what is the differets with the “i believe” and “we believe”?

The Nicene Creed was written during the 4th century to unify the Christian Church under Constantine. The traditional wording was: I believe, the modern wording is:We believe.

fr_fonz- welcome to these boards. How are things in Singapore? I was in Hong Kong in the 1960s. Do you have a large parish?

I love the Apostle’s Creed. It is in a nutshell what Catholics believe. The Nicene Creed is an extention of the ancient Apostle’s Creed. But both tells any listener what the Catholic Church believes.

This is not from the Vatican but I think that if you were trying to tell a nonCatholic what the Catholic Church is all about, you could give them either Creed and they would not go wrong.

The "we or the “I” is not important. That doesn’t change the meaning.

When you say the Creed you are liked mysically to all the Catholic who have gone on before. They all said the Creed. Yes you are so lucky to have a Creed that was so perfectly written
