Hi Friends!
I wear my scapulars everyday without fail but lately the brown ribbons holding the scapulars are itching me (they are most likely filthy) me so I put them in my pocket.

I know this is so trivial but is putting them in my pocket the same as wearing it?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

I presume you’re talking about the Carmelite Brown Scapular.

It’s not the same. A scapular is a garment, even if abbreviated, so as such, their use as a sacremental is to be worn. scapula=shoulder, i.e. a scapular is worn over the shoulder, as it would be worn by the Carmelites.

If it itches because it’s filthy, then wash it or replace it. As you would your clothes.
