…and I want to make sure I’m as close to ready as I can possibly be. I’m hoping that some of the veterans out there will help me out in terms of resources to use. So far, I’ve got this website (catholic.com), also CERC, and varous books (…like Handbook of Catholic Apologetics…), but I’m wondering what else I need given the topic and the audience.

The first question will probably be the big one: Is there a God?

The audience is mostly filled with agnostics and atheists on a gaming site I regularly frequent. I have talked on subjects on this site before, so they do “know” me as being someone who breaks the “echo chamber” of views that come up in their forum specially made for discussion of subjects like religion. I usually only speak to religious discussions though as the representation of Christians is usually one of “extreme right” variety and my aim is usually to burst that bubble and represent the Catholic view as best I can.

So…knowing this, to you who have more experience than I: what other resources should I use given the topic and my audience. My objective is not to “win” against the opponent…though that would be a bonus…but to plant those seeds of faith among those reading the debate.

Thanks for the help.

Hope this helps, but one of my favorite apologetics books is Where is that in the Bible? by Patrick Madrid.

Good luck, I would probably keep to 1 or 2 topics at most, and don’t let yourself get taken off topic by another topic until you have successfully stated what you were intending to say about your original topic, otherwise you and others will tend to get confused. Neveer be afraid to say “I don’t know”, but when you do, always, always say “I do not know” BUT “I will get back to you”, and make sure you do get back to them, by doing that you now have the high ground whitout having to guess about an answer you wern’t so sure about, and you can get back to them on your terms, and on your time. Just be sure to get back to them. Other than that say a prayer for the Holy Spirit to guide your tounge.
