More than 700 claims is still a tragedy, but I am glad to see they are declining. Hopefully the message is getting through to those who are abusers, that the entire church is on alert & this behavior will not only be not tolerated, but your ministry and your salvation is at stake.

Hopefully, those who have predatory tendencies will seek out professional guidance from counselors etc before they act out their deviant behaviors.

We still need to pray for the children, their families and the clergy struggling with this affliction…as well as all people in all vocations of life who are struggling.

Even one legitimate claim is a tragedy. However, during the week following the announcement that our diocese had set aside $12 million for future claims, 48 more came out of the woodwork. It does make one wonder.
