Abuse or just irreverent?

Quick question this time. Our EHMC gather around the Sanctuary during the Agnus Dei (I know, they’re supposed to only go up after the Priest has received) and someoen takes out the Precious Body from the Tabernacle (I know, the Priest should be doing this) but here’s my question: once our Priest has received the Body and Blood, he doesn’t really, I guess, ‘Minister’ the Precious Blood to the EMsHC. Instead, he kind of just hands the chalice and cloth to them and they drink the Precious Blood and that’s it.

I am guessing it’s just particularly irreverent but not an abuse, but I just want to make sure.

And do you HEAR just what the Priest says as he gives them the Chalice and Purificator ?

My guess is that as he gives the Chalice to them he says " The Blood of Christ " and they should answer " Amen"

As a Special Minister of the Eucharist before we receive the Priest would always say ‘the Body of Christ’ and the ‘Blood of Christ’ some times he would ask a SM to distribute the Blood of Christ to other SM they also would also say ’ The Blood Of Christ’ As far as taking out the Precious Body from the Tabernacle we as Special ministers may go to the tabernacle and get the Communion for the Sick but generally we get It from the priest during Mass at the end of Communion. There are also times I have to help a priest who is not well go to the Tabernacle take out the Saboriums distribute the Body & Blood of Christ to the other SM And after Communion put it back in the Tabernacle. Very daunting for SMs but we try to do it with as much reverence as we can.

Yes, he says the words, but that’s not what I am getting it. It’s the way in which the Blood doesn’t look to be given to someone but more “handed” out to them. He barely faces or turns to them.

I think you mean Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. A Minister of the Eucharist is a priest or bishop. A Minister of Holy Communion is a Deacon. An Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion is a layperson who, owing to extraordinary events, has to take up the ministry.

Also, again, I was merely leading up to my question so as to paint a picture of how this happens. My concern is more so with the way the Blood is distributeb.

Since we are not there, we do not see what is actually happening or what the problem is. I suppose that it may seem to the congregation that the priest is just handing out the cups when actually he is presenting them the cups while saying, “The Blood of Christ”. When and if you are ordained a priest, you know to istruct the EMHC not to approach the altar before the priest receives Communion. And you know that the EMHC are not to retrieve the Hosts from the tabernacle. And if you think it is necessary, you may be a little more reververnt in the way that you give Communion to the EMHC.

Sorry i stand corrected. I did not think it was necessary to be absolutely correct and I’m sure you knew that but felt you had to correct me. My advice to you would be to ask one of the Extraordinary
Ministers of the Eucharist or the Priest involved or better still would be to ignore human errors and concentrate more on the Lords presence and this would be much better for your spirit.And good reading would be Matthew 15:1-9
